Default 1999 a4 z28 vs 2003 m5 Mach 1

This happened about a month ago. I had posted it on another board and forgot about it until now.

Ran some guy in a sharp looking '03 Mach 1 Mustang 5 speed, he thought he was a hot shot. I will admit, his car did sound ****in mean.

We catch a light and are the first two cars, me on the right, him on the left. He threw me a couple revs to see if I would bite, I looked over and smiled. Light turned green, I casually roll a foot or so, then punch it, as does he. I put 2 cars on him by the time we got to the next light about a 1/8 mile ahead.

We stop at the next light, I look over and smile, he nods and gives me a thumbsup as I did as well. Then we went our seperate ways.

It was fun, got the blood flowing a little bit that's for sure.

Figured I would share in case you were bored.

Mach1s are pretty much a driver's race stock for stock in a LS1 fbody. soo..

I've seen lightly modded Mach1s and lightly modded lS1 fbodies race all the time. It comes off both ways. It's a driver's race.

So yeah.. silly.

Only people I've ever seen deny 2v Mustang can't run 13s consistently are LS1tech posters. We actually have a thread in another forum "discussing" this "fact"

You'd think by some of reactions I've gotten in here about my GT running 13.9s that I said 13.0 flat or something.

Funny stuff.

BTW a post from said thread.

i ran a 13.82/13.89/13.89/13.9/13.99 in my bone stock 04 gt 5 speed. and im pretty sure drgnracing did a 13.7 so either way its been proven. u could run a pass like that infront of some of those guys on LS1tech and they wouldnt believe it. sometimes i think theyre bigger nutswingers than the import guys.
Seriously, a 2v running high 13s is nothing new, or amazing.

No matter how pretentiously condescending you get about it.

That's why when I ran a 13.9, I didn't figure it was such a big deal. I know of others that have gotten 13.65/13.7s before. Had I done that, I would have been bragging. But 13.9s aren't anything to brag about with 2v GTs. Too many people get into the high 13s on stock GTs to brag about it.

Then so was your car stock considering they run about the same 1/4 times stock. You realize that right?

I doubt you thought your car was a turd when you first got it either.

Yes I do, just don't tell anyone else.

Thanks! I'm basically stock: free ram air mod, de-baffled stock airbox lid, drop in K and N filter, stocky y with no cats and exhaust dumped before rear axle(no muffler).

someday you'll wake up and deal with the fact that 2v's are 14 second cars. there have been fbodys that ran 12's, and they're considered 13 sec cars. just because a few guys ran a 13 sec pass in a 2v doesnt mean it will always do it. that's if it ever really happened in the first place.

a mach is not the ls1's equal. they are just close enough that mustangs guys coined the phrase "drivers race"

machs are cool cars and decently quick, but i've never seen them as a threat. if both cars are manuals and the guy driving the ls1 launches\shifts properly, odds are heavily in his favour of winning. if he spins badly or blows a shift then probably not.

LOL Some day you'll wake up and not be such a fanboy?

Because a large group of people haven't consistently gotten the fbodys to go 12s. That's not the case with the 2vs. Your comparison is trollish at best.
just because a few guys ran a 13 sec pass in a 2v doesnt mean it will always do it. that's if it ever really happened in the first place.
Seriously, you're in denial of the worst kind if you think this.

Yes, Mustang owners coined that phrase. It was never used before the Mach1.

Whoever is the better driver of said race will win. Hence the driver's race. I'll take this post with a grain of salt considering your last failure of a post.

Wether 2v's run high 13's or not we can all agree they are pretty slow. Sounds like a V8, performs like a V6.

Yeah... 2v GTs have ran 13.9-14.0s. 2v LS1 fbodies usually run 13.5-13.6. The LS1 GTO even slower.

That's a HUGE difference isn't it?

(And yes, I know LS1 Fbodies have went faster, So has the 2v GT. I am talking about averages)
