Default SS vs 1g TSi

Well my friend and I have been gently making fun of eachother for a while...So finally we got it togeather and had some races. We both had one other passenger in the car so it was basically even in that sense.

My stats: Stock 2002 Camaro SS. LS1, all it has is a K&N air filter (not new airbox). So maybe like 3hp more than factory...at most...www.cardomain.com/id/stoleit2x
Scotts: 1990 Eagle Talon TSi. About 15 or so grand in it. Not all that in the engine...probably about 8 in the engine. He had an engine swap, T3/T4, alot...www.cardomain.com/id/bumblebee1g

So first race was from about 20 mph role, both in 1st gear. He said that since he had awd i should honk and such because he would have the advantage...okay. So 1, 2, 3, we take off, I jump up infront get about 1/2 to a car on him, 2nd hes closing up, 3rd, hes about 1/4 infront, 4th, 1/2 a car infront of me and we shut down. I'm happy!

2nd Race: from a dead stop. He said I can have the hit, so I heard him rev his up and hold...well i launch different. I drop the clutch (no gas) the car weight transfers and then bam on the WOT! Well, im surprised i dont ever see his car again in my perphial vision. So I'm atleast 1/2 a car infront, and my buddy in shot gun said i was about 3/4 in front when i finished. I shut down both races around @107ish.

The Talon is atleast a 12 second car...so im , and yes i know for a fact he is a 12 second car. So I guess my car is super crazy

Very nice kills! Remember though, track times mean little on the street, because R/T matters a lot. The fact of the matter would mroe likely be that your trapping a higher speed than him than running a lower E/T. However, with that kind of a close race, sounds like he's not running much higher than high 12's. Not doubting you, just trying to think on both sides. You could very well have a freak... a guy named Venkman on this forum has a WS6 that dynod around 360 RWHP with a lid and catback, which is pretty much the craziest freak I've ever heard of.

Nevermind, didn't realize you have an '02 (I'm dumb), the '01 and '02 LS1 F-Bodies always seem to run freakishly. Good kill

ummmm..... super mario, maybe you ment it as if they were racing on the track together but a 12 second car will run a 12.xxx nomater if he has a perfect light or sits there for a min or two, the time starts when he passes the stageing beam.

btw, good kill

I went to his cardomain site and he has a $hitload into that car and a basically STOCK ls1 loses by only a 1/2 car from a roll and beats the AWD from a dead stop.

What was he running for boost, like 5 lbs?

His stats say 12.4's at 117mph and 360 hp, with a weight of 3700lbs.

Love people who have no idea about there car or what it is capable of.

Good kill.

doesn't make sense the tsi should be faster unless he's scared of boost. the car is capable of that time on the stock turbo with his setup and 20-24psi he should be in the 11's. and the car should only weigh threek tops so either he's extremely large or he's got ballast to hit 3700

i think mario means on the street R/T matter cuz if the other guy got the jump, he would definately have an advantage. whereas at the track it makes no difference whatsoever in terms of E.T. or mph.

Yeah I think that is what he meant to. On the street the person who hits it first has a big advantage over the other person, especially if they have some speed (ricer fly-by).

Great races. Ironically you lost the one you should have won and won the one you should have lost. Good kill and death.

yeah i noticed that too. but i had an amazing launch, only like a split second of squeel and i was gone. I admit, i made that cardomain site for him. The last time he ran his car at the track was with stock turbo and some other stock things, and he ran 13.5. So we just assumed that the t3/t4 and some other goodies would drop him that much. He raced a 12 sec turbo (that has been to the track) and kept dead even with it. So im . Maybe I have a godlike ls1 ...that would be pimp

It's a 1990 talon not a 95 they weigh close to 3800 stock. The 95's were lighter at around 3400 but in no way under 3k or even at 3k. Mitsubitchy's are almost never featherweights. They may like to tell you they are but they aren't. Nice runs.

No way a 1990 or 1995 dsm's even come CLOSE to 3800lbs stock. Low 3k at best.

come on how much does awd really add on? about 200lbs? so basically if a 2wd dsm cruzing around with one of big broncos chicks its about dead even weight.... then again rotating mass would suck *** with the awd's.. moot point though just keep racing em till they spill the trans all over the road

Nice kill. by the way the only big car that i can think of that has made freakishly HUGE numbers for a stock car is Venkman. I say you go talk to him and compare the **** on your car to see how much a factory freak it is!
