stock 98' camaro pulling Charger SRT-8
Heres a vid me and my buddy made a few days ago just messin around with his camaro. Heading back to the house we encountered a srt-8 that wanted to play. Did a 30 roll with the charger driver punching it first without warning.. and we actually pulled him! see it below, If you wanna skip to the race its at the 1:08 mark but you have to admit his car sounds pretty damn good for what it is

everything is stock about it except the exhaust manifolds- they are ebay brand shorties with high flow cats, and the stock y-pipe is disconnected from the muffler (if anything causing a loss in power, but we just wanted to cruise around and enjoy the louder exhaust note)

I've had this race FRA and 1LE Springs (me) vs bone stock (300C SRT8)... and I have what some people consider a really strong car... it was a head to head race with neither of us really gaining or losing ground. Literally ended with our noses dead even from 70mph to 130mph The Race.
Your exhaust mods (shorty headers, high flow cats and no muffler) did make a big difference. Unless your 98 ran even better than my 01 did stock and if memory serves not a lot of people were trapping 110+ mph in stock f-bodies (which is what it would take to pull a stock SRT8 like that IMHO).
Nice kill... get that think to the track and I think you will be suprised at the gains that exhaust setup gave you.

Dam nice kill nice kill. You have a great running car, even with those mods i honestly dont think it should have been that easy of a win.
But either way congrats

yup this is my friends car, (i have a vortech 2000 Mustang GT) and his car runs VERY strong. He beat a 10' SS RS (granted it wasnt even broken in yet) and at the track back when it was absolutely bone stock even with stock manifolds it ran 13.2@105. i got the vid ill try and post it up some time

its probably easier to get in the 400+ rwhp range with a 2v than an ls1 IMO (judging by my buddies who have built ls1s). Only problem is around 425-450 your stock shortblock is about to pop any minute.

The shortblock itself will last well over 700. It's the internal parts that will go around 400-425.
I wanna go around 380 and I will be happy. easily done. It will take 99% of the LS1 Fbodies around my town. And that's all I wanna do.
SWEET car btw.

yes thats what i meant lol obviously a shortblock NEEDS the actual engine block plus the crank, rods, pistons its the powdered metal rods and pistons that blow at that HP, the GT cast iron block is stout as hell.
get it done man rep that 2v

I'm also confused...2v's are easier to 400+ than LS1's? Not likely bro...2v's need boost for that, LS1's do it with a mild H/C setup. I've actually seen alot of f-bodies over 400RWHP cam and bolt-ons only, stock heads.

ok ok i retract my previous statement... lets say...its CHEAPER to boost a 2v in the 400 rwhp then to do it N/A? most of us who are smart enough to stay away from buying "kits" new can do it for about $1800-$2000. Its just that i dont know why pushrod buddies spend so much on N/A setups and get 400-450 rwhp when the same amount of money coulda been spent on a blower and had 550+ room to grow... Guess theres something about being n/a and having all that power... i wont ever know though, stuck with this crappy 2v
oh and ls1 guys: how much rwhp can your stock hyperuetectic (sp) internals take till they go?

Yea a huge reason many of my friends have went with LS motored cars was for how easy and cheap it is to build them. Over 400rwhp is not that hard at all in fact.
But idk i have always wondered about people who boost 2V mustangs, with the money spent to boost it, would it not be possible to just get a 03-04 cobra and go from there?
Im not trying to start a fight just genuinly want to know.

Depends on how long we are talking... I think 450~500 is doable for long periods...someone will come up with crazy 600+ rwhp examples that held together for several months or a few thousand miles. A few guys on here have been there and done it so hopefully one of them can chime in.

There are plenty of LS1 cars holding together with 550rwhp on stock internals.
