Default TBSS vs Mustang

Hey guys, it was short and nothing spectacular but i figured id post it. I was on my way to work this AM, and a black 01-03 mustang was in front of me. I got closer to see if it was a gt or anything but it looked like it was just a 6 cyl. Heres what confused me. It had dual exhaust.... but a 6 cyl hood, no badges or anything. It looked like a 6 cyl. anyways, i decide to see if he wants to play. i threw him a rev and he revved back. We slowed down to a 40 roll and i went to honk, but he took off on the first one. I flashed my lights and he let out and slowed back down. i rolled down my windows and held up 3 fingers and rolled my windows back up. This time he went on the third honk and jumped out like half a car while the TBSS was downshifting. When it caught, i just walked away from him and let out at about 90 like 3 or 4 cars ahead. i really couldnt tell as it was dark and real nasty out. He drove by when i hit my exit and gave me a thumbs up so i gave him thumbs back. So i figure it was a 6cyl right? i wouldnt have done that to a GT would I?

When I had H/C/I 5.0 making 320rwhp I raced my friend's TBSS and it wasn't even a contest. We went from around a 45mph roll and by 4th gear I was 3 or 4 carlengths ahead. He wanted to go from a lower roll and it was even worse.

A New Edge GT refers to the 99-04 mustang GT's. They are called this because of their "newer edgier" styling than that of 94-98 mustangs.

Oh and good kill OP.

The TBSS probably had fouled out plugs or water in the gas or something, that's why you beat him! Mustang V8's are good for one thing only and that's a boat anchor!!!

Stock the two are about even, though I think it would have been uglier had you raced a v6. Odd outcome but perhaps it was an auto. When I'm cruising the ss, mustangs and rice are my favorite targets.

Sounds about right. Those new edge GT's are not that good. I've killed some with my 90 GTA lol. If it was a 99-01 no hood scoop and the 02-04 have the scoop. U can aslo tell by the rims

you said that he revved did it sound like a V8? Either way good kill. And he was cool even after he lost and didn't do a fly by or something stupid like that. And actually gave you thumbs up thats a respectable mustang owner. He must be used to losing...LOL

leaving the results of the race aside. Numerous posers put duals on V6's, but I have never seen a New Edge GT owner put the sixxer wheels and hood on a GT. Especially since take off Gt wheels look so much cooler and are a dime a dozen. I have to vote for the V6. Maybe he was spraying a 50 shot. Nice kill no matter what it was.

It was probably a '99 GT. They have a V6 hood and they don't have GT emblems on the side.

Yes they do, they have the v6 hood correct but they do have emblems. Who knows what it was? It could have been a gt or a v6, but if i had to guess its a stock auto GT which would sound about right, they are dogs. Good kill either way OP

Never in my life I have seen a TBSS run a 14.8 probably in the rain or an uphill. TBSS would kill GT all day
