Beat a Cobra 'vert twice, 75-120
I was just driving on a local highway, getting ready to exit onto the interstate it crosses over. I saw a bright red Mustang convertible getting onto the highway, and I downshifted from 6th to 4th and threw a rev at him as I drove past. I figured he might be getting on the interstate too. I got on the interstate and continued on my way.
Sure enough, about a mile later, I see a flash of red coming up quickly in my rearview mirror. The Mustang pulls ahead of me, and I realize it's a Cobra. Figuring I'm about to get smoked, I downshift to 5th gear and pull even with him. The driver looks over, we both nod at each other, and punch it at the same time. Immediately, I start pulling on him little by little. I wind out 5th gear, slam it into 6th. Doing over 100 now, and the Cobra is at my rear bumper. I continue pulling until I hit about 120, and we shut it down. He pulled up alongside me, and I asked "Is that a real Cobra?" He nodded his head "yes". I gave him the thumbs-up, and we got ready to run again. I downshift to 5th again. This time, he hits the gas before I do, and I'm at his door. I slowly start to reel him in, and by the time we hit 110, I'm a nose ahead. We continue to 120, but our positions never changed. My exit was coming up, so I honked the horn as I got off the highway. I was not expecting to beat him. I know he had a catback exhaust, but I'm guessing nothing else.

Yea I am also curious what year it was. With your mods it should be no contest with any Cobra before 03. But if you just beat an 03-04 Cobra vert....then good kill

It looked like an '03-'04 Cobra. It had the dual-vent hood, the lip spoiler, and the '03-'04 front bumper. It could have been an '01 that was converted to look like a Terminator, but I don't know.
In 5th gear at 75 MPH, I'm at about 3000 RPM. I ran in 5th gear up to the redline, and shifted into 6th. Don't know exactly what speed I shifted at, I glanced down briefly and saw the needle over 100.
I'm assuming the Cobra also started in 5th gear, as I only heard him shift one time during each run.

There is no reason you should race in 5th gear at 75mph and you would not beat a well driven Cobra of any year by doing that. If I had to guess I would say it was a GT converted to a Cobra or there is a guy on SVTP that has a V6 that looks exactly like a 03 Cobra.

Stopsign32v, trust me, I'm having a hard time believing it was a Terminator myself. It sure as hell looked and sounded the part.
Just for ***** and giggles, I tested what RPM I'm doing in 4th gear at 75 MPH. It's just over 4000 RPM. I guess that's a better launch point from a roll.

when i had my stock 3.42s, i wouldnt need to shift into 5th until like 130ish. 4.10s or not, you obviously dont understand where you should be in a roll race. my friend has 4.10s and he doesnt drive like you at all and 6th wont get you **** when you shift into. that is PURE gas mileage gear. now, there is a very strong chance that it was not a terminator, i wasnt there so i wont say for sure, but it doesnt sound like one at all.
Did you hear a very loud whine coming from the motor?

I couldn't really hear any whine coming from the car. My exhaust is kind of loud (LTs, ORY, Borlamouth), and the Cobra's was as well. Would the supercharger whine that much if the car was basically stock? Again, don't get me wrong, I'm kind of doubting it was a Terminator too.

75 mph in 5th gear at 3000 rpms sounds about right, but starting at that rpm is shooting yourself in the foot, so imho it was either a bad driver or not a real cobra. Either way its a kill, and i'm not trying to knock it, but just giving my .02.
