LT1 WS6 vs. 07 3V GT & vs. 03 2V GT Vert
Made it down to my parent's house today and managed to play with my WS6.
While my mom and I were on the way to Petsmart to pick up some stuff for my dog, a clean black 07 Mustang GT rolled up next to me (young guy, early 20's, with an especially hot girlfriend). He preceded to rev his engine at the stoplight next to me, so I gave him the look and we were both ready. It was more amusing because even my dear Mother told me to smoke him.
As the light turned green, we both floored it, both of us sounding like we were spinning badly. I let off at about 70mph due to traffic up ahead and had a good car and a half on him. He pulled up again to the next light and wouldn't even look at me. I tried giving him a thumb's up for the good fun we just had, but he refused to look at me.
The next race for the day was my buddy's 03 Mustang GT convertible. It is an auto with 3.73's and full exhaust. I figured this would be a decent match for me since he had full exhaust like myself, gears, and Nitto Invo tires (arguably better than my Sumitomos).
My buddy and me raced a good 4 times, once from a stop to 65, once from 10-60, 25-70, and 40-85 (a bad spot for me)
I beat him all 4 times with leads as follows - 1 car, 1-1/2 car, 1-1/2 car, 2 cars
My buddy is looking at the new 2011 Mustang GTs to replace his vert. I will be in trouble!
Had a lot of fun today, just thought I'd share. No vids sadly

Good attitude and races.
I wish there was people like you to hang out with in this part of the state. We mostly have what you described in the first race. The rich momma's boy that got a Camaro/Mustang/Viper/Vette given to him. Always wearing shades regardless of how bright it is out.
The only fun part about these guys is, 90% of the time they can't drive what they own. And end up getting beaten in races by cars much slower than the ones they own.

I wouldnt be too worried about the 2011 Mustang either, if he does get you which i think will be highly unlikely, do what the other poster said and just throw a cam in it, or trade your LT off for an LS with the same mods you have then just wipe the floor with him.

I've taken interest in the 2011 GT's, however it will be very hard to mod them as far as cam swaps and fun stuff like that goes.
If the Z/28 really is an advertised $8,000 more than the current SS, I might have to cash in some investments to go that route.
And to JM0523, I am eventually going to sell my 97 WS6 (~106k miles on it) for a nice lower mileage 2000-2002 WS6 sometime in the future.
And thanks, Ke^in, I have respect for most everything out on the road. At the end of the day, we are all trying to mod our cars, run that goal slip, and enjoy the huge grin on our faces every time we step into our "toys".

Mickey's and a set of spare wheels = overkill for a car that does not go to the track, or only sees track time one or two times a year.
Nittos have been working fine for street cars for decades.
I understand Mickey drs are "stickier" than 555s(NT05s are closer), but they also wear faster. And again, this is his daily.

Why do you assume that the mustangs are faster than his car and call his car slower? He has a stall and a few other things...I think that LT will beat "stock" 3V or 2V's all day long...but you do need to get some DR's

I assure you I wasn't. I was referring to a few times I beat a faster car than my own simply because the driver stunk. I know about the OPs car. I am positive it could take both cars he took.

I've thrown around the idea for some 555R's as a DD radial or some Nitto Invos (rather expensive, but a good tire)
I've also been talking on classifieds for guys with spare ws6 wheels to have a spare set of wheels to throw some ET Streets or ET Street Radials on there. Am going to buy a girdle before I mess around with DR's just to be on the safe side.
Am saving up to "upgrade" to a 00-02 WS6 with low miles. I like the looks of them so much better. Don't get me wrong though, this car brings a huge smile to my face every time I drive it
I will have a lot more cash in hand because my new bank job will be paying for 1/2 of my tuition for business credits even though I will only be working there in the summers.

The regular 555s are a good mix between grip and wear. I don't have as much rwhp as you do, but my rear never slips on the regular 555s. If I ever get to the point they start, I might get some Rs.
