Built 306 Fox Body Rape These are some local guys. I've raced one of them before that basically has a near stock fox he was spraying.
Well this other one tonight has a built 306, trick flow twisted wedges, yadda yadda yadda.
Said it made 576hp on the nitrous and was "off the chart" rich at that time.
They have since leaned it out so he said he felt 600hp.
It supposedly sprays a 175 shot so I figure it should be a solid 400hp OFF the bottle, right?
Well I see if he wants to run off the bottle because I dont have any nitrous, and even if I did have a full bottle my clutch is weak and WILL NOT hold the nitrous. It's not even worth trying.
So he finally says he'll run me motor for motor. We line up, and get staged and I get up on the 2 step with the cutout blaring right in his ears through his open window.
Guy drops his arms and we're off. I jumped out on him hard in first (bear in mind he was on hoosier drag radials, with drag wheels all around and I'm on my heavy *** 17" Z06 wheels and street tires). Bang second and pull even farther. Third, more of the same.
Hit 4th and Im so far ahead I just let off and coast the rest of the way. I'm sure it was several busses lol.
We went back to the start and he was gonna air down his tires.
While he's airing them down and were getting ready to go again the damn cops show up and tell us to go home.
We are going to a better spot tomorrow night and I'm pretty sure he'll spray me.
I guess we'll see what this 600hp mustang that runs 10's supposedly does against a lowly cam only LT1
Hopefully he blows my doors off with him spraying and me not, otherwise just, mustang fail all around.

He's full of ****. The 306 probably makes 320rwhp and he makes around 400rwhp on nitrous. You are a moron for believing him. Do some research, learn what cars are capable of. That way you wont be caught in a situation that makes you look dumb.

Don't be fooled, that 306 could be built to make the OPer's Camaro look like it was standing still. Obviously though the fox body owner isn't that bright. Then again I wouldn't say the OPer is either. What can ya do thou..

A properly set up LT1 would make that properly set up 306 look slow.

It gets old to read, I might as well just read the first post only now.
They both had mods and agreed to race, sounds like someone inflated their car and lost.
This isn't the first or last time to happen.

Sounds like you showed him whats up. Good job not bragging to him how good your car runs, and instead just showing him. 
Too many people put heads, cam, intake, & full bolt-ons on cars that are not set up properly and swear they are fast Just b/c they are a little bit faster than they used to be. however properly setup, tuned and with a car properly setup They can be made to be fast. Either way glad you got to put him in his place. I hate when people brag about how much power they make, and obviously OVER do it.
REMINDS ME of a time when this kid said he had a factory 454 big block in his 94 30th anniversary camaro Z28/SS (wtf??

Talking stock vs stock or 306 vs 383 then sure the LT1 is faster. But IMO looking at the size vs size makes the 5.0 look very good once you start modding. When I was younger I had a 5.0 with GT40 heads and a Trickflow Street heat intake and a E303 cam. Car wouldn't get out of its own way. Once I gave it a 2nd chance after I learned what to do I couldn't believe what a N/A 302 is capable of. very basic H/C/I setup on the 302 gave me 328/337 and 408/444 on a 100 shot. Then 480/506 on 8spi of boost. Opened my eyes pretty quick.
Maybe I haven't ran into the right LT1 but I've never been left with my jaw on the ground when I ran into a LT1. I get about as suprised as I get when I run a bolt on 2v.

That's what I'm talking about. If he did have the mod's he said, he should have raped that LT1. Those AFR twisted wedge heads and cam combo can make those 5.0 fox fly.
