Finally got a shot at an LS2 GTO!
Sitting at a stoplight in canada as I see a 05' GTO turn in front of me... (I have a 2004 Heads/Cam/Header/Stall GTO-390/360 at the wheels). Ive been waiting for this a long time! At the next stoplight we both start talking and ask if we wanna run-its on! (He had exhuast/intake and a few other small mods) I had two other passengers and he had one, as the light turned green-I spun bad but still immediatly jumped 3/4 of a car. As we climbed I slowly pulled, it was overrrrrrr! After we both killed em', and about a mile down the road later...He tried to slingshot me from about 30 yards back. I waited for him til he got pretty close to my back bumper when I put it to the floor...His pull was stopped in about 3 seconds and I started slowly realing him in. Who needs an LS2 these days anyways...

243 heads on a LS1 GTO + cam & boltons with a stall converter runs from 380-420rwhp assuming OP has 243 heads or equivelant?
Good stage 2 porting on 243's adds 20+rwhp
A Svede over the radiator cold air intake would add another 10+rwhp.
25% UDP balancer for another 10rwhp
etc. etc..

Don't necessarily blame the heads: when you go the heads, were they ported? It's pretty obvious if they are ported, even covered in carbon. What specs on the cam? Who made your stall? What dyno?
Most importantly of all, what is your 1/4 mile trap speed and race weight (and DA of track when you ran)? That will give you a better idea of power made than any dyno. I've seen numerous posts of guys picking up 20-30rwhp from just replacing crappy stall converters with high quality efficient ones (even with higher stall ratings).

and no track times... the heads did look visually different than stock tho... TEA verified with my tuner that there was no chance that they were there own. The stall was a cheapie rated for 500hp.. another great ebay purchase lesson learned-believe me..
