Default Cammed WS6 Vs SS and C5

Up to date I have 360rwhp thanks to my TR224 114 cam (my kooks headers are coming in this week cant wait)

I raced an LS1 SS (cant tell what year but I would guess it was a 2001). Raced him from a 1st gear roll all the way to mid 3rd and I put about a good 2 car lengths on him until he let off the gas. Its funny how I could hear him shifting sooner (i shift at 6500 ) It was an awesome race the guy was really cool about it too.

Next race:

Im driving late at night and see a C5 I start to rev my car and he looks like he wants to go. Me being an idiot we raced from a 3rd gear roll. I didnt want to race from such high speeds being that it would be my disadvantage since my car weighs more (and ofcourse its dangerous) but it happened anyway.
We both nail it at the same time in high third gear (i would say somewhere around 90-95mph but i wasnt really paying attention rpms were at 5200 somewhere there). He jumps by a tiny doorlength away with his back bumper by my door side and then I shift and gain a little but by high rpms in forth gear he takes his foot off the gas pedal and his bumper is now by my headlamps. We stop by the light and i ask him what he has and he says just intake and exhaust stuff and he dynoed 328rwhp! I have to admit he won the race but god damn I was making +32rwhp and I still lost! I think I would beat him in a quarter mile run but damn never knew how much weight has a big effect on performance!

I thought I could actually beat an 02 Z06 with 395-405rwhp .. what was I thinking!

A Z06 would have to be modded to have 405rwhp. Stock they are about even with you hp wise (360whp). Good races!

Good races. Those stock manifolds are really choking your motor.

Toolman: thanks. Yeah but your missing one thing about the Z06s. Even though they dyno 360rwhp I would think they would still beat 400rwhp fbodies. Those things have awesome aerodynamics not to mention their weight:

2002 Z06 "Curb Weight 1414 kg / 3117 lbs"
2002 WS6 "Curb Weight 1585 kg / 3494 lbs"

Thats 377lbs difference not to mention I have a wingswest kit on mine so that an easy 400lbs difference! (lets just hope only fat guys drive Z06s lol!)

black Z: thanks. Yeah your right thats why my headers are coming in soon.. cant wait

281cipwr: thanks again. I answered a few questions on top. Keep in mind transams are the heaviest f-bodies. C5s should weigh a little more than Z06s. Z06s have the most power to weight ratio advantage thats why I would guess even stock 02+ Z06s would beat 400rwhp f-bodies when it comes to street racing ofcourse. There are always dirty tricks in 1/4 mile racing like launching on slicks etc. But keep in mind that 02+ Z06s run 11s easy with just nitto drag radial tires and maybe a stupid mod like an intake.

My best friend just bought an 02 Z06 as we speak. I might have a few good races with him just to show you guys an honest comparison. Sorry I wont be able to have any video clips to prove that. Too bad as soon as my clutch goes in ill have to do miserable slow driving for 400+ miles for it to break in correctly... it might be while.. well at least ill have the nitrous coming in soon as well

I have a 6spd and I raced a C5 that made 328hp at the wheels.
I absolutely DID not race a Z06...

at least not yet

I just spoke about the Z06s because I actually thought I might be able to beat one with a few bolt ons with my cam and without having to buy heads (at least that was my goal) but now i know thats not going to happen.

i believe your WS6 is a bit heavier than what you posted. headers, good exhaust and 4.10's will pull his *** hard next time.

Hey 2002 TAWS6, what else did you upgrade with that cam.... did you go with the 918 comp springs and hardened pushrods..??

Just curious as this is my summer project, but thinking about the 112 LSA

yup. I bought the whole cam kit from thunder racing. It comes with the springs, rods, gaskets and everything.

even though the cam says 224/224 114lsa the one i recieved was 225/224.5 113.8 LSA. Hope you know about that. You'll definetly feel a difference ill tell you that.
