cam only ta vs pullied cobra - video

so is it even possible with an streetable cam (mid to high 30's) and all the bolt ons including a fast intake N/A no spray to even beat a pullied cobra? cause i want to get this cam:
LSR 231/239 614/625 113 LSA 109 intake center line
and a fast 92/92 setup. i am hopin to be able to take the cobras at the track or on the street with this cam. is that possible w/o heads?

On the flip side there are full weight, cam only LS1's making 375-385 rwhp and trap in the 114-115 range and then there are gutted out, big cam LS1's making 440 rwhp and trapping 126 mph.
Then of course driving comes into play.
From my experience, lining up the typical 450 rwhp pullied Cobra and an average 390-400 rwhp, full weight, cam only LS1, the LS1 is gonna get walked in a roll race unless there is driver error.
From a dig, it could go either way because driving plays a bigger part. The Cobra still has the power advantage though, so with equal driving and sticky tires I'd put my money on it.

yeah I am with screamin... to many variables. your typical street daily driven cars. it will take more than a cam. cam, fast and gears. you might be right there. this cam makes all its power up top so gears would help a ton.

We ran dead even twice....best races ever. The last time we raced I was out over a car and pullin at 110 when you had the 100 shot and bolt ons. Yes I did beat you by 5-6 if not more Cam only....so its possible that we could be close with ur setup now. But i would have to say you will win for sure!! We will do it wit my setup now and i will do the port and we will do it again and get them on vid and we will have a blast doing it because thats what its all aboout unlike this ***** bag with this cobra. Like posted above way to many variables to judge thats why street racing is a blast.......Like when me and my bro race it could be close or he could win by 4 cars. Anything can happen. Damn I love street racing.

Runs look good!! If you had sprayed him I have no doubt you would pull him, also 386rwhp for the T/A sounds pretty good considering its on 853 heads and on a nitrous tune. There is a good 10-15hp right there on the table.

well if i am gonna even touch the rear end with gears then i am gonna get a whole new one...the 10 bolt is worth less then a Dana 35 on a jeep wrangler! if i do gears i am gonna get a strange 12 bolt or 9-inch. what gears best suit a cam only car and are street friendly?

From what I've seen, most cam-only car benefit FAR more from a set of heads than a FAST because the stock heads don't flow well-enough to take full advantage of all that extra air the intake/TB can flow, especially if you don't have 241s. 1) Putting a FAST on a H/C car makes a lot more sense than putting a FAST on a cam-only setup and 2) putting heads on a cam-only car makes a lot more sense than a FAST on a cam-only setup. Here's a video of my friend and I running this exact comparison.
His TA with a VRX4 cam (228/230 588/592 112 LSA) and a FAST setup, but stock 241 heads.
My Z28 with a smaller 224/228 581/588 113 LSA cam, stock LS6 intake/TB, but cheapo 243 heads from Patriot that cost $900 a pair when purchased.
Both manual with 4.10s.
His plan was to do all of this without me knowing about it with the intentions of walking me when it was all done, so he went with a bigger cam than mine. His downfall was deciding to spend $1,500 on a ported FAST setup instead of using that $1,500 to throw a set of heads on the car. Watch right to the end at 1:58 for a good laugh.

Otherwise, throw the $1,599 heads on the car for a serious, guaranteed gain right now, and then save up and put a FAST on that H/C setup down the road and gain even more since the heads will be able to make full use of it.
