Default 4.10 LS1 vs Vortech 2v Mustang

I was driving home the other day when I saw this yellow mustang gt vert pass me on the other side of the highway. I look back in my mirrors and see him turn around and start to gain on me pretty fast. We just ride next to each other for while and then we get a light. He looks over and grins at me so I figured he wanted to run. I let him leave first and then I played catch up. In second gear, I had pulled 1.5 cars and by third I was pulling almost 2.5 cars so I decided to shut down before I shifted to fourth.

Opposing car has vortech (unknown size), made 370 rwhp and has ran 12.7s on street tires.

I talked to him after the race and he said he gave it all it had.

My Car:
4.10s
Corsa Catback
My custom tune

Did he blow the tires off? beating a car with ~70rwhp more than you sounds fishy, but obviously not unheard of. I wont throw the flag....yet.

His car is either in seriously bad shape, or he can't drive. If he had you off the line, you'd not have been able to play catch up otherwise. And 12.7s for a 370rwhp 2v isn't that great of time either.

Good kill but that wouldnt be the norm if you ran into another vortech gt. But it is the street and he is in a vert so anything can happen

Was it a new edge on anthracite bullitts with a nasty rake? Was his name Phil?

Edit:

Nevermind; just realized you said it's a drop top. There's a local guy with a yellow Vortech'd coupe.

Sorry guys I forgot to say I have an 02 trans am ws6. I thought something was up with his car as well when I beat him that bad but apparently it was running perfect. The only thing I could think of was it was around 93 degrees out.

As for calling the bs flag. I wouldn't have put the kill on here if I thought it was normal. I wanted to get input on how it shouldve went down.

I found out that the gt is basically a plenum, x pipe, catback and blower no headers, no ring and pinion or anything like that. It was tuned by one of the best shops in the area and I personally don't think a 12.7 is bad for street tires with those mods. Btw car was a 2000 gt 5 speed.

If his car wasn't geared right and him being a full weight vert at 370rwhp.....eh I can see it. Maybe he sucked driving too? Story is believeable to me.

It may have been. But obviously the driver was not.

But then you're car would be effected too.

If that's all he has in a supercharger car (which is very odd) I don't know what to say. But even a 370rwhp 2v GT usually does better than a 12.7

I've seen supercharged 2v get slower 1/4 times with 4.10s when compared to regular set of gears. It all depends on the talent of the driver.

Maybe I'm not taking in account the weight of the vert. How much more do NewEdge 2v Verts weight over regular 2vs?

This girls brother took me on a test drive in a s/c cobra (96) she said it was pushing over 500rwhp(Yeah at the flywheel more like around 430+). anyways I was going to buy that before I got my SS. It had 410s with a t56 tranny and when he would get on it right when it seemed like it was gunna pull hard he would have to switch gears. I thought it would have ran better with some 327 or 355 so it can pull harder up top.

I know someone personally that has a Procharger (With upgrade fuel pumps etc) 2v with just exhaust, tune, STS, 3.73s and a set of 555rs on the rear and he has dipped into the high 11s.

I beat a 02 vortech GT a while back with mods. in sig. Ran from 60-120ish. He never got any further past me then his nose at my rear bumper. You could hear the supercharger whine over my true dual dumps at WOT.

i didn't think vortecs whinned, i had a procharger on my silverado a few years ago, and they are both centrifugals right, anyway it only whined at idle, then just hissed when boosting.
