00 SS M6 vs 95 Cobra hci
I got called out by a buddy of mine. He has a 94 cobra with afr 165s a small cam maybe an e303 and a holley intake. The rest of the car is stock with the exception of the supporting mods like injectors and so forth. My car is an m6 200 ss with just a k&n fipk and a cutout with free mods. My car laid down 338rwhp with 355tq. Am I in for a long night or should it be close. We wil most likely do a second gear roll. Whataya think guys? I will try to post a vid as well!

It just depends. When I had AFR 165s, Performer intake, and a cam I was stomping bolt on LS1s. Its all in the combination with the 5.0s. If the person knows what they are doing watch out, if they are the typical owners then don't worry about them.

11.9@112.9mph here with AFR heads, custom cam, and a cobra intake. I think he may very well smash you. Then again, if it's really the stock cam and he doesnt' have the supporting bolt-ons you might win. It should be a fun race in that case.

Unlike the HO cam the stock Cobra cam is terrible along with the ecm. If that car is tuned and has gears you could be in some trouble.
I ran 110- 111MPH traps with a Cobra ecm,e/f cams(actually slowed down with F since I was n/a and stock cr) and GT 40X heads ported with a hone Cobra intake manifold in a Fox body at full weight. Those AFRs and Holley are much better than what I ran but that Cobra is bigger...
Good luck. I think you can can take him!

I don't think the stock cam and the Holley intake are going to mash very well.

He sounds like a guy who is randomly building his car of various internet info. I'm thinking you are gonna walk him pretty good. Let us know the results either way! Vid would also help, especially a vid of his car idling.

Will do my friend. He told me he wants to keep the stock cam because of the smog issue here in california. He wants to get gears to help the low end but hes gotta wait as of now.

if you don't Post results some time soon they are going to move this tread. Looks like you my may not run the guy if he's bs on his mods. Hope you do run him, I wouldn't worry about loseing.

I concur. Stock cam isn't going to do well at higher rpm regardless of the intake, and the systemax intake will do better in the 5000+ rpm range. So you're right, it's absolutely mismatched. That said, I bet the car will still make decent power, and it may actually still be quicker than the same combo with a GT40/cobra intake because of the slightly better power on top. It won't be as torquey down low, though. He's got the right heads and intake for his displacement, just the wrong cam. Still I'll bet the right shift point will still be around or above 6k.
To the OP: stock gears being 2.73s means that you are going to crush him badly off of the line. Run from a stop and put him at a very bad disadvantage. Let him get into the powerband and run from a roll, and it will negate his initial disadvantage.
Good luck.
