Default Was this a kill? 96-98 Cobra vs 91 RS

I seldom post kills as most are generic in the T/A but the following happened in my daily beater/driver an Arctic White 91 RS.

One morning this week while waiting on a red light to change a 96-98 Cobra rolled up beside of my 91 RS. I didn't pay the Cobra much attention as I was on the verge of being late for work. Soon as the light changes we both go. I floored the RS right of the light and pulled about a car length on the Cobra. It's down hill off the light for aways & I think this helped my heavier RS. I could hear the Cobra reving high coming on strong at the top of 1st he pulled 1/2 a car length on me. When he shifted it was like 1001, 1002 and the Cobra lost about about a 1 1/2 car length. My RS being an A4 stayed floored the whole time. Samething happed at the top of 2nd then again at the top of the 3rd. He pull by by 1/2 to 1 car lenght and with his painfully slow shifting loose lead and fall back 1/2 to 1 car lenght. When he shifted to 4th and fell back I slipped in a hole between two slow cars which closed before he could follow and put RS away for good on the top end.

With the RS having 261,xxx miles on the orginal 305 & A4, it would be nice to claim a Cobra kill before the LS1 & A4 swap. I know the Cobra was a much faster car than mine but the Cobra driver was horrible with a stick.

Thanks

When you are ahead till what ever speed, it is a kill. Does your 305 have a tpi on it?

No it's just a lowly 305 TBI.

.
How could anyone possibly be that bad of a driver? I cannot phathom even a mentally ill monkey taking two entire seconds to shift into a new gear.

I agree that it is a kill however, and the outcome of any race is as much dependant on driver skill as it is on how fast the car is.

I used to have a 91 Z28 with a 305/A4. I added intake, headers, exhaust, chip, and 3.55 gears. I used to whoop on stock LT1s with that thing. Some ******* stole it and used it for a ****** robbery. Was found in Mexico and the Insurance declared it a loss....was all messed up.

Maybe because that 305 was a TPI(tuned port injection) vs. the RS' TBI(throttle body injection)

I agree my friend had a 92 RS with a TBI 305 A/4 that was bored and stroked to a 355. He had headers a full exhaust and his dad pretty much built that thing into a new car. Even after all the mods he was still quit a bit slower than an LT1 with an exhaust in the quarter. Looked and drove really nice though.

I say it was a kill, even if he fell asleep at the line and forgot to go you crossed the finish line first!

I know that dude. I had a TBI 305 '89 RS too, so I know the motors. I just wanted to show a 305 can hang too.
