Default LS2 GTO vs. G35...

Last night me and a couple friends were headed to the bar in my G35 and we stumbled upon a 6.0 Black GTO. My first reaction was to let it go, since the guy in my passenger seat had been making rice jokes all night. Against my better judgment I figured I'd add some fuel to his fire. I line up with the GTO around 40 mph, dropped down a couple of gears and started to pace him. He looked over and smiled, then floored it. He pulled almost a car on me immediately. By the time I shifted to 4th, I was SLOWLY catching back up. We ended up doing about 100, with him out front by a few feet. The GTO was LS2 auto, sounded stock with blue HIDs and 2 fat people. My car has 5/16 plenum, ORY, +2 timing, 1 passenger. Needless to say everyone that saw it (myself included) was amazed by the outcome. So... Lets hear some EXCUSES!!!!!

Good death man. How do 350z's compare to g35's speed wise?

G35 should be ~.2 slower, depending on the engine. Mine isn't a RevUp 3.5 like most Zs.

So you lost to a stock-ish, A4 LS2 GTO in a lightly modded G35. What kinda excuses are you looking for? I'm assuming you thought the GTO should have done better?

Well until this happened I was toying with the idea of trading my G35 in for a GTO for performance reasons. Guess I'm gonna hold off on that. I assumed a car with another 120hp and the same weight would rape me.

I think it should have... even an automatic LS2 GTO should be low-mid 13s @ ~106mph or more. Chalk it up to "anything can happen on the street" I suppose.

ehh idk where to start anything can happen on the street.

For example i beat my friends twin turbo G35 many a time.

Who knows what was up with this one, even an A4 should have freight trained on you. Oh well good loss.

I was the passenger in the G35. It was a pretty decent race, I was quite suprised that the GTO didn't walk him.

After the race, the guy drivin the GTO had this massive look of disappointment on his face, that's what made the night for me.

Strange outcome, but oh well. Good death, even though it was just barely a death.

Low 14 second car vs a low 13 second car = a close race? Odd but like was stated anything can happen on the street.

I wouldn't call that a race. You should of tried to get a race with him and honk it of so that you guys would leave at the same time. Sounds to me like he floored it but did not go all out. I consider it a race when both drivers agree from a stoplight or they honk it off.
Most of the time the other cars just take off. My opinion the g35 looks better than the gto. It would be nice to have a turbo g35.

I doubt that he knew how to "honk it off", let alone speak English. This was no street racer, he just happened to own a gto. I'm sure he would have destroyed me from a dig. But 6speed works more to your advantage from a roll than automatic.

I think another 10hp would have been enough to run with this particular "big dog." A 370z would have beat the gto from a roll IMO. If I was driving my Camaro, he'd be in the rear view with the rest of the traffic.

BTW, I want your car!!

i used to have a 05 g35 6mt coupe, damn i miss that car. mine was black with the stock 10 spoke 19's. i used to think it was crazy fast back then. but after now owning my cts-v i realize it wasn't as fast as i thought. but like everyone else is saying, they are dead sexy cars, every-time i see one i still get a little twinge of regret, but gotta do something when you start having little rugrats following you around.

I absolutely destroyed G35's and 350Z's when I was stock and near stock. He most likely let up then got back on it when he realized you were committed to persuing him- which would explain his look of anger/annoyance when you caught up to him. Been there, done that, and mentally smacked myself for it.

Where do you live? I'm sure we can hook you up with a near stock GTO for your G35, and a cam'd GTO for your Camaro to run. <PLEASE SAY WASHINGTON STATE!!>
