Default SBC S10 vs 99 Z28 **VIDS**

My friend and I have been wanting to get some runs in since he missed the track season due to a rebuild, and now he is going with a new motor setup (LSx ). Well today was the day.

S10- 364ci SBC, th350, 3600 stall, 3,73 gears, shorties, dumps, weight reduction, ET streets
-----------------
ME- m6, lid, ls6 intake, longtubes, true duals, 3.73s

Both of us had passengers. He's also just about out of gear/pulling power around 90-100, so he lets off around then.

Quick vid of his burnout so you can see the truck:

DIG #1
I let him get the hit after the honks because he
said he has a slight hesitation. It didn't this time,
but he would have yanked me regardless.

I left off idle in the first 2 digs, and with just a little RPM in the last race because I was lighting up the tires all through 1st & 2nd if I didn't. He shifts around 5k rpm since it doesn't have much left in it after that. The lack of top end (and my car being all top end) makes the results expected. This truck is going to be nasty with the 6.0 in it, and a bottle will probably go on top of that. Easy 10s. We might get a few more runs in with this motor this weekend before he pulls it, so stay tuned!

Thanks, but with a better 60' I'd be a lot deeper in the 12s. Oh well.

I don't want a 4wd really, just a 4 banger to get 35+mpg since I drive 200+ miles a week. If it doesn't sell, no big deal. I would end up buying another f-body if I get more hours at work...or maybe a C5 if they let me go 40 hrs. Damn college

It will be a whole new animal. He said it doesn't really have a top end, and that's what our LS motors are good for. It'll have some nice 243's and a torquer 3 once he finds a good motor to put that stuff on/in.

Thanks. Funny you say that because we set up the camera so that I could (for once) hear my car in a video.

It is an X pipe to Dynomax Bullets. I think it's the best (non-cammed) sounding setup, been told numerous times it sounds like a Vette. Other people may think different, but I love it. Quiet when I'm around town and at part throttle, but screamsss at WOT.

Awesome races and the videos came out great!

That truck definitely had nice punch down low, but like you stated, you could see the lack of top end pull. 5000 rpm shift points is like a stock cammed TPI I bet that's still fun as hell to drive and it's just gonna get more fun with the engine swap!

Yeah he rolls out hard even with traction issues past the 1/8th even, but there's not much left after that.

Good races! Thanks for sharing. What is the curb weight of a s-10 pickup truck?

No idea. I told him to weigh it at the gas station we were at, but he didn't want to pay. If I had to make a guess, I'd say around 3k without driver. There is pretty much nothing left in this thing but the motor, tranny and 12 bolt. I don't know my S10's so I can't say for sure. I'm sure someone here could hazard a better guess than me.

Nice kill! That truck definitely wont be any kind of "roll monster" until he puts a real set of heads and cam on that thing. Moves out nice from dig though.

The "LSX" mod will cure all power issues.
