Default Need opinions on this outcome: Z-28 vs Mustang

Hey all,

Just on the way home from work here in Jax. Turned onto 17 (3 lanes each side) and there at a light waiting is a Mustang (current bodystyle) with a Cobra front and a big aftermarket hood. I am slow as there is a light coming up and I want to try and run him. I was like, sweeeet, lets run a Cobra!
So I am doing like 35 and I hear him come up, loud exhaust, sounded good. Light turns green before we get there and I am not sure if he is game as he was traveling regular speed, about 45 in that zone. We crest a small hill and no one is ahead for as far as we can see, about a half mile. I was at his back bumper listening to the exhaust, and he gets on it! (I noticed he had a Mustang GT rear cover, so no idea what it was.) So I react, drop to 3rd (D) and start pulling him in. We are doing like 115 and now his nose is at my rear bumper. I hit brakes as there is a gradual curve and I don't want to hit someone. He slows and gets in behind me.
We go normal speed and he finally gets along side of me. I had my window down and was gonna tell him nice sounding car, he had the pass window down about half. He rolls it up and starts juicing the throttle! OK, traffic ahead but I have a decent burst opportunity. He guns it, so do I, and start to leave him behind. I shut it down as traffic was coming up, and just wanted to show him I would pull away. He does a ricer fly by, blips the throttle a few times and then is off weaving in and out of traffic. He gets off an exit, so long.
What the hell? I think I would no sweat have taken him, and he seemed pissed with the window roll up and fly by. So lets hear what you guys say. It was fun anyway!

Plus, the excellent manual shifting of the auto tranny. Hope you don't toss it into (2) or (1) one of these days ... being that it will downshift on it's own.

Seeing that you saw Mustang GT on the rear bumper it wasn't the newest body style. It was probably a 94-98 GT, because the 99+ only said MUSTANG or COBRA on the rear. Good Kill!!!

I'm sure it was just a GT with cobra badges and possibly some body panels. I have seen a bunch of cobra wanna-be's around here lately, so I'm sure that's the new thing .... just like the guys with the 6 cyl's who put GT badges and dual exhaust on it, but it still obviously sounds like a 6.

It's very hard to confuse the newer body style stangs with the older ones ... unless you're blind ...
