Default ls1 Chevelle vs....ls1 chevelle (with a side of fbody)

Friend back home has a 69 Chevelle with a ls1 swap as well (I helped him wire it). He snuck some mods into the car over the winter I didn't know about.

He tossed in a comp 228/228 .588/.588 on a 112, a Performabuilt stall (3200 I think he said), and a new mail order tune. Car also has ls6 intake, 3" duals with X, 12 bolt with 4.56 spool. 275/60 Nitto 555R. His car is also several hundred pounds lighter than mine due to stripped interior, no inner fenders, smaller radiator, small battery, no heater, etc.

After a trip to the track we found ourselves on the empty roads at 3am and couldn't resist.

We line up from a roll ~40-45, I'm holding second and he is in Drive and he honks it off. His car gets a downshift to 2nd and he jumps out about half a car. It hits the rev limit on the 2-3 ( I think his trans is slipping) and I cruise by him during that, once he gets into 3rd I'm still pulling pretty quick until he runs out of gear.

So next his wife lines up in her new 4th gen B4C z/28. It's an 01 IIRC with lid, longtubes, stall, and tune. We line up from a first gear roll around 25-30mph and she honks it off. I must admit I jumped on her a hair, and put her on my rear fender immediately. Heard her car chirp second gear a little before I did the same and just started pulling hard from there, she let out sometime when I wasn't looking and was about 4-5 cars back by the time I looked up.

Not a bad way to end a night at the track. I also won runner up in the street class brackets. Best of the night was poor 7.93@88.5mph with a 1.79 60ft. Other Chevelle went 8.08@83mph with a 1.79 60ft. Camaro went 8.4s @ ~84-85mph.

DA was right at 2500-2600ft. Warm and very humid, track prep was pretty good but the guy spraying the water box was getting carried away and water was being drug all the way close to the line.

I hope not haha, we all separated to go home so I didn't get to talk to them. It was partially all an effort to keep awake on the drive home.

Our other buddy in his Lightening felt left out. It's a first gen, clean truck but only runs 10.0 in the 1/8th NA, does have a nitrous kit on it just no bottle.

Nice man. Why did he go so small on the converter but so steep on the gears?

He got the rear end for a steal, it's a 12 bolt from a race car. He just hasn't got around to ordering a limited slip and some decent gears yet. I kept messing with shift points but couldn't keep the car off the limiter on the 2-3 so I think his trans is slipping on the shift.

He got the converter because it was a good deal, same for the cam. Both were bought on the classifieds here.

Man I love your car. My favorite one are the 68,69,70 Chevelle's. I would trade my car for one in good shape if I found someone willing to do it. Kmow anyone? LOL..

Yeah, my car slowed down almost .2 from the above usual heat/humidity.
