Default 07 Vette Auto vs G37 Auto

I decided to run a friends G37, has intake and exhaust nothing big at all. I was driving the Vette bone stock. Both cars auto as the title says. We did a few runs mainly 40-45 to about 90-95 and the Vette would pull 1 1/2 cars and some was just only 1 car length, except for one race were we got to about 100-105mph were i had about 2 1/2 cars which was the best race for the vette. The shifts were a bit delayed in the vette and when it would shift the G37 would keep up till i got back in the higher rpms again. Overall i was pretty suprised he did really well. Im sure at higher speeds if we had the room it would've been a much better pull for the vette.

Nice, but once the Vette hits 4th, it may not be as good as you think. The G37 has nice gearing. Hard to say, would like to see the ratios.

Ya i figured in the higher speeds 4th gear it will pull away easily, meaning the vette. The G37 although his is an auto 5 speed shifts very fast and doesn't drop off power by much. I told him if he installs Headers and test pipes with a tune it will be very impressive. He doesn't know wether to keep it or get a STI, EVO or something like a Civic Si to keep his payments low. I just told him to keep it.

Those G35's run better than most think. My buddy has one with a stillen supercharger & all the bolt on's. A lot of muscle car guys around here are "butt hurt" about it.

not really. most of those supercharged 350z/g35 cant break past mid 12s with there initial FI setups. they dont do well with the SC setups.

and how horrible do you drive if your can barely pull a car that traps around 102-103mph stock the g37's run mid high 13's the 07 vette auto can run mid 12s all day long..

We didnt run a quartermile because there are many factors to running 102-103 and a vette running 112+ this is highway racing, we just ran for a few seconds. When the Vette would shift 2-3rd it would stop pulling till it got higher in the revs. Cleanest race we had and the longest was till about 100-105 and i had a little over 2 cars. G37's are not as slow as you might think. Wether anyone likes it or not thats the way it was.

Your vette or it's driver is broken.

Did you guys leave at exactly the same time? Or did you wait for him to hit it then you hit it? Cuz if you both hit it at the same time you should have put 5-6 cars on him in those runs. Hell, my GTO when it was stock would pull 2-3 cars on 370Z's from runs like yours.

If you gave him the hit then it would explain it.

In just a short 50mph Or so you put 1.5-2.5 lengths on him and he had a 1 second jump. You absolutely destroyed him, that's not even a race. Go from 20-120 and it would be a joke.. or dig-100 40-130 etc etc.. Any race with some distance covered the g would get embarrassed, even with the hit.
A 40mph race isn't anywhere near enough to show how hard that car should get freight trained.

And the g doing good against the vette in 4th gear, lol!! No matter gearing, displacement makes that decision by a loooong shot.

Ya i figured its just not long enough to put so many car lengths on him as well, thanks lemons12. Believe me i like the vette better and if i could've done better or raced longer i would've but we didnt have the room to do it at all. The vette wasnt my car either even though it was an auto it took time to just say F it and tap shift it down to 2nd and go from there instead of letting it downshift on its own and fall way behind. Everytime i would let it downshift on its own even when i went on 2 instead of 3 he would pull a car lenght from the get go. So the cleanest race was when i was in 2nd using the paddle shifters and going almost at the same time he did still get the hit but was about till 100-105 and i pulled a little over 2 cars. I wish i can say it was more but thats what it ended up being.

In this video there is a friend of mine's full bolton/suspension/dr LS1 fbody versus my car right after the heads/cam. first two runs I gave him the hit just to play with him. 3rd run demonstrates just how much faster my car really is as we left evenly from a 3 honk. The 1/4 mile mph and time differential between these two cars and that vette and G37 has got to be very similiar.

i know more about them than you think. i ate them all day long in my 370z. and it ran 13.2@107. the g37 are a good 2-3 tenths slower and 2-3mph slower CONSISTENTLY lol.

LOL i dont think you got what i said. WE DID NOT RUN A QUARTERMILE, its street racing. Thats just what happens. I didnt say you didnt know anything about them, dont get hurt. Ive had races with the same G37 in my camaro were he has kept up due to my bad driving and then other races were ive easily pulled on him due to my good driving.

did u only downshift it urself? or did u shift it to the next gear as well? cuz the paddles are complete garbage ur better off putting it in "S" pushing t/c once and just let it do its own thing

the best race was with me shifting it myself. I didnt know it wouldl've been better in just S. I did race him a couple of times in just S and not shifting at all but the downshift lagged and got pulled on even when i went on 2 instead of 3.

ya the downshift is the big down side when stock but a tune fixes that and just let it shift itself at that point if he does tune it.

Ya i heard the tune will make a big difference. I can always take it out again and re due the race but i already know once the vette gets up top it will pull easy.
