Porsche GT3 RS is a rocket Not too long ago I was driving my bolt-on modified '98 TransAm on the highway going to Pennsylvania accompanied w/ my wife in the hammer lane in "super-cruise" mode t-tops down enjoying the sights and sounds in pure automotive bliss with the road to ourselves, when I noticed a pair of headlights approaching from behind. I let off the gas and moved over as a precaution untill I could identify the vehicle in my rearview. I was soon able to tell that it was a silver Porsche with a big wing on the back. I told my wife that this looked just like the Porsche we saw road tested on Motorweek the night before (she's not a gearhed like me and rarely likes automotive shows that I like, but she liked this one a Porsche GT2 RS turbo). Anyhow she turned and looked out the back window as the Porsche approached and we were doing 65-70. When the driver saw that we were both looking, he downshifted twice and nailed it. I assume it was modified at least with an exhaust because it was a loud whooooosh!!! and he was gone around curves and everything! Obiously he got the surprise jump on us because we were just admiring his car but I downshifted from 5th to 4th and nailed it
to give chase anyway but was not able to get within even sight of that car again. Truely impressed. Not really a kill I guess because I never had a chance but a neat experience non-the-less because normally drivers of those types of vehicles wouldn't give you the time of day in a domestic car let alone get playfull on the road.

A guy I race with (Trackdays and Autocross) has access to his dads GT2. I have yet to ride in it, but from what he is telling me, it gets up to 160 rather quick. His cars include a nicely done MR2, and an Acura NSX. His dad also have a Testarossa. I hate him! haha.
My friend is now thinking of getting rid of the NSX and getting a 911 Turbo as a daily driver.
911 Turbos and GT2s and GT3s are nothing to laugh at! Without looking, I think the GT3 runs high 11s in the 125+MPH range.
