A Kill of a Different Kind
Well, I'm glad to announce that there's 1 less ricer out there.
Last night, I went out with a friend of mine in my '99 T/A. Now, this friend usually is driving his '87 Honda CRX. So I decided that it was high time he drove a real car. I let him do his thing and boy did his attitude change. After flooring it for the first time, he's infatuated with late model f-bodys.
Mark one more for the good guys.

That is the best type of kill ever!
I did that one time with a kid that was trying to soup up some ricer and took him up to the top of third in my T/A. That was all it took.

I was hanging with my Friend Chris over the summer, and we see this kid in an integra who's car runs into the 12s. (So does Chris' Z28) Well we were talking to the kid, and he's got the "mission control" a pillar, BOV, yada yada yada. Says he spent $25,000 on his car. Nice guy, car not riced out or nothing. Chris takes him for a jaunt in the z car, chirping into 3rd, and the guy looked like he met Christ himself when he stepped out. He just kept saying, "so much torque." and "I want a Z28." Funny how $1,000 in mods will change your mind.

Awesome... I saw the light that was LS1 when I stumbled upon this site. I mean, I had always loved american muscle and all, but just never knew what the deal was with the newer f-bods. I now know, and have a greater understanding of american muscle. I think Enisguy's got it though... once a ricer, always a ricer... no matter what... its just the import guys like me(im a different, breed though... as I am into german cars, and hate jap crap), that never fully understood american muscle that can be "converted." Again, though, I have always appreciated american muscle, and that would be the only way I would go for a pure dragging car, though an old, air-cooled bug might be cool.

Update:
That friend of mine has found a '64 Camaro RS for around $4400. Looks like we both have projects. I'm almost done with my '79 T/A. And I'll be helping out with his interior and his paint. He's gonna be learning about the engine (used 350 Chevy SB that is bored out) through some votech classes that are offered around here.
Not a bad transition for a kid that has been driving a 1987 1.2 Liter SOHC Honda CRX for the last year and a half...
