So i decide to take the ta up to austin to pick up a guitar from my jam room. I swing out on to the toll road with every intention of doing something stupid with the car as i havent driven it in about a month.

I have the t-tops off and its sunset and there is a crazy lightning storm off in the distance but the toll road is still dry. There is only one car behind me on the entire visible road so i purposely go 65 in a 75 to let him gut up on me and see if its a cop or not.

So he comes up to me and flys by me on the right and whoa ho....its a new 5.0.

I speed back up to about 80 to get even with him and i downshift into 5th and let him hear my exhaust and let him know im down. He just paces me and so i figure he doesnt want any and i just cruise.

Then he speeds up, gets in front of me a bit, and blasts down the tollroad in front of me. It was loud enough so i could here it over my dumped duels. So im like WTF?

I speed up to about 85 as he slows down and we are pacing each other. Im in 5th because the car is damn loud and if he doesnt want to go i dont want to sit there in 4th blasting his ears.

Then he just jumps out on me hard. I shift into 4th as fast as possible and start to reel him back in. At about halfway through 4th i pull back even and when im shifting into 5th hes about a car/ car and a half back. I push 5th a little bit more, at this point my hat gets blown off my head, and then he falls way back and exits.

I tried to give him the thumbs up out the t-tops but i dont know if he saw me. Also not sure at what point he pulled out of it, think he was about 2 cars back when he let off and i kept on it.

Either way, i was damn impressed, i think it atleast had exhaust because my car is ungodly loud and i could hear his, and it took me a lot longer to real him in than i expected.

These new 5.0's are no joke.......glad to get in such a kickass race tho

My brother made 414/400 with just a tune and intake. Add the little extra weight over an fbody and that sounds about dead on. Good run.

LOL at the moment i thought i lost it and didn't give a ****, but it just flew into the passenger seat, wouldv'e sucked too. Its a sweet Pontiac hat my gf gave me

those 5.0's do run hard. i dont doubt them for a second. cant wait to run one. i tell friends of mine that arent really that into cars about the new 5.0 and how its pretty much every ls1 owner's goal to run into one and race.

Im actually in San Marcos now and ive gone to a couple meets here but its a pretty small scene. Used to go to the meets on saterdays up at fry's but i heard they relocated it yet again.....where are these austin meets these days?
