Default 2003 Cobra vs 1979 Firebird

Not exactly LS related but I figured I would share anyways. Raced a friend who recently put a 2.8 pulley and a tune on his 2003 Cobra. He wanted to see how he would do against me now because when he just had cat back on his car I put about 3 cars on him. Regardless I knew what the outcome would be this time...

Thank you, The first run was pretty bad... I'll be putting in some 3.73's eventually. Then the bottle.

Those 2.73's are killing you. Very strong running car just the same. Good to see a good old fashioned carb small block keeping up nowadays. I think with the gears the cobra wont be able to pull you anymore. Should be dead even. More vids when you get gears/bottle.

Yes they are. Thank you, I don't know if gears will make THAT much of a difference but they will help. I will get more videos as the races come.

For those of you who haven't seen it this is my race a 1999 trans am/ms3/ported heads/ls6 intake/4000 stall

Good runs the more you ran the better you did. Due to the Eaton heat soak if you guys would of keep racing you probably could of won.

Love seeing the old school Firebird, holding it's own i have an 81 Firebird.. Is the car a 3spd or 4spd tranny? If you have a 3spd with 373's it will hurt you on the higher rolls, i have a turbo 350 tranny in my car with 373's, higher speeds the car is revving to high.. What kind of heads do you have?

You noticed that too? The last run we punched off where my car makes peak torque as well.

Thanks everyone, I'll get the rear end built eventually then it will be dig time!

It's a th350 and when I do the gear swap I will stick to slow rolls and digs cause stalled auto from a dig does work! The rpms shouldn't be a problem since I make peak power after 6k and will be around 3k at 60mph in 3rd. The heads are trick flow 195's

Nice runs, strong running car!

It really bugged me that in both videos you couldn't seem to line up evenly and get a good even jump off the 3 honk lol.

Fkn lol never expected that outcome.
I remember my friend had one of those firebirds in highschool, that thing was a turd. Yours on the other hand moves awesome and looks great. It would look epic with some big an littles and a hood.

Thanks, the cobra owner just got into cars/racing plus I haven't had much seat time street racing. Also It was just for fun so I wasn't super concerned with getting it exactly even

It seems to run pretty ok. Feels slow to me but that's the way it goes. The engines around that time put out such an unbelievably small amount horsepower. It's almost funny. 350 ci = 185 hp. Thanks, that's the plan. 4 inch vfn hood and what ever bigs and littles I can find that.

Dude... I know you were outgunned and took a loss... But I too am impressed by your car, specifically because I ran a 76 Camaro with a similar build and it was a roach. I'd actually like to know specifics on your h/c setup.

Seeing that Firebird with no hood and a SBC took me back 20 years!
