DD 1st gen neon vs 5.0
Players:
Chopper('11 5.0)-3400 stall
cai
exhaust
tune
4.10 gear
110lb passenger
street tires
raceweight approx 3900lbs
Baby Skittle(me: 95 neon 4dr)-stock 5spd trans
2.4 stratus block
2.0 head
stock srt4 turbo
240hp 220tq 13psi
200lb passenger/car full of nonperishable groceries
street tires
raceweight approx 2900lbs
foggy wet night but luckily the roads dry quick in mexico
first race was about the same with the 5.0 getn a lil better jump(no video)
2nd race I got a slight jump on the 3rd honk only to have him creep around me..we went from 45 to 110 or so. I brake boosted in 3rd hence the small jump, stayed pretty close thru 4th and as soon as he got by me I went to 5th and let out which is why it looks like he hit the gas(which he didnt)..chase car is a new v6 stang(not sure on mods).
Overall two good runs w a good friend and only got beat by about a car. The 5.0 is well known in this part of mexico mainly for dig races maybe we'll get some of them of video if I decide to run him in my H/C 98z28
cliff notes: mustang 5.0 2 wins neon 0 wins=fail but Ill take being beaten by a car length in my dd any day..fun race
1st video is chase view
2nd video is from neon view just after the honks

just another angle..the race was closer than it looked..in both races he was still in gear pulling when I had to go to 5th(which slows down dramatically)..curse those high winding 5.0s..and now that I think about it..the v6 stang seemed to hang pretty good w a nice anticipating jump(again not sure on the mods)

Too much **** in your car to be honest. I knew you were losing by looking at the numbers and race weight. If you didn't have the 200lbs passenger and the x amount of groceries in there, you would have done better. Weight was your main ally, and you killed it with a heavy passenger. LOL Good deaths.

Why do I know this stuff. ::facepalm:: I'm literally typing this with my head down. The accessories on the eclipse are different. i.e the alternator bracket setup is different. However, it's swappable. It's easier to use the 2.4 from the stratus/pt cruiser since it's a direct swap. Most people use the heads off the 2.4 since its basically the same but use the 2.0 DOHC cams. The 2.0 cams or some lightly modified crane cams like 14's, 16's, or 18's are perfect for the turbo applications. I wanted to run 24's for some of my old builds but never finished any of them. There were 9 total.
