judging by the new 5.3 numbers, GM is sandbagging the LT1 numbers by a lot.

This graph is something I'd expect to see as a homework assignment for children. Looks poorly made.

it's fords own graph with the torque curve of the new 5.3 laid onto it.

Looks like that Ecoboost kicked some serious ass in that graph.

boosted engine--- no surprise really. the 5.3 has higher fuel economy and towing ratings though.

marc97taws6 04-11-2013 02:25 PM

Nice kill...

Curious as to how long the Ecoboost motors will last

i sure as shit wouldn't want to own a TT ford engine off warranty.

willizm 04-11-2013 03:15 PM

I say why not. Let the turbos fail and ill be excited about stuffing bigger snails under the hood. Let it eat!!

This is the first I've seen of the 5.3 power figures. Looks promising for a entry level v8. I like the ecoboost stuff too, just not sure I would want the added complexity in a truck.

if just one of those turbos goes, there goes any possible fuel savings you might have gotten.

but yes you're right this is GM's entry level V8. supposedly around a $700 option over the V6. great deal.

I own a 2012 fx4 eco boost there low ned torque is ridiculous for stock, on the dyno it put down 338 rwhp and 429 rwtq. It's tuned now just waiting to dyno it again.
