Default 93 civic vs 01 SS

No races for the gto. Next race for it will be my gto vs my civic. This car is a little cheaper to break and fix than the goat.

Now to the race. I've been trying to talk a friend into a race for a bit and he finally said yes.

civic mods.. 1.8 non vtec motor( stock motor) swap, greddy turbo kit(14psi, 18g turbo), 3in exhaust, 440cc injectors, walbro 255, wideband and tuned.

01 SS.. fast intake, lid, longtubes, catless, exhaust, 3600rpm stall, cammed and tuned by vengeance.

We went from a roll. I will give him a rematch after i get some tires on the this thing. From a dig on the current tires, he will just run off.

He counted it down. We hit it(no brake boosting) and i start to spin 2nd and into 3rd. He isn't pulling and about mid ways through 3rd i stop spinning and start to inch out on him. Grab 4th and stay in it till the top of 4th at redline around115ish( maybe faster). At that point i had about a car length on him.

He had his wife with him and i had no passenger.

I honestly thought he would pull me with no issues.

His car probably mph's in the 108mph range, a setup that ONLY works for dig racing yet you roll raced him with a car that mph's 112 with 10psi yet you were running 14 psi so probably in the 118mph range or better and you thought you would lose?

At least do a 1st gear roll, like 20-30mph. His converter isn't doing him any favors after he gets up past probably 5000rpms in 2nd gear, then it hurts him from parasitic pumping power loss.

His car traps more than 108. I had a bolt on only trans am trap right at 108... he went 12.3@110 with it locking into second gear for a second. that's why it was retuned at vengeance..

I'm a noob so sorry if this is stupid but if you ran 13.6 on 10psi does 14psi make that much of a difference? With that I don't get how you beat a car that runs low 12s on a bad run.

Why would anybody ever bother building a non vtec motor. Just swap a b series or k series in.

The 14 psi will make more horsepower and trap more MPH.

It beat the Camaro because the Camaro is built for the track, automatics are not good for roll racing. His civic would probably be faster at the track with a tire. FWD is hard to steer from a stop. Spin.... Spin.... The civic probably traps higher as well..

Bad that 13.6 was not using launch control and shifting out of first at 10mph.. 2.4 60ft.. a better comparison.. this car went 13.5@105(2.1 60ft)on 8psi and 13.6@112(2.4 60ft) on 10psi..

Cory.. cheaper to replace the motor at 200 bucks a pop. This is a b series...Plus it was already swapped.

video of 10psi run..
and another video from a different angle..

video of 8psi vs a mach 1 with intake, headers, exhaust, 98 intake cam and tuned. Sorry for the qaulity, guy didn't know how to upload to his computer over wifi to make it better and ignore his comments.. civic beat the mach1 by 1 length..

sorry for qaulity again..now the civic on 14psi vs a stock c6z06.. he left traction control on. we had 2 more runs where he would get out 2-2.5 cars and i would let off.

the civic isn't fast, but fun for what it is.. my gto has no chance with it, but i'm going to do a video of it anyways.
