Turbo 5.3 third gen TA vs modded Honda CBR 600RR *VID*
Ran a buddies bike today. Never raced anybody at the power level I'm at since lowering the timing. Just wanted a baseline of where I sat. I'm guessing I'm around 500 rwhp. Didn't brake boost in this race.
CBR has power commander and full exhaust
My car has an LS6 cammed and intake 5.3, 317 heads, and 11 PSI on a 76mm.

Traction is awesome. I haven't spun at all yet, but haven't tried out 1st yet with them. This was with 30 psi still in the tires too lol. Wish I could have gotten a brake boosted run in, but there was just no room on the highway so we were kind of winging it.

i hear ya... Its weird having to relearn how to drive a car when it has traction lol. Ive slowly been picking my shifts back up from having to shift slow to avoid breaking tire. Have you gotten a chance to race anything else?

Not until I add boost. I don't care much what it's making right now, but I do plan on going to the track to get a few runs in like this. And I def want to line up with you at this level for the hell of it!

And I'm assuming you were joking with the bolt on LS2 vette comment lmao. Wouldn't have even been a race.
I do kind of want to know what a bike like that with those mods would do in the 1/4. I know the CBR's aren't as quick as the GSXR's, but the owner thought it would do around 128-130 mph in the 1/4 how it sat.

I like it just the way it is lol. I built it to be a cruiser with a kicking stereo, all power options, and some HP under the hood, so to me the fact that it's not loud is nice. It's a pretty high flow 3.5" exhaust though, but the borla XR1 muffler does an awesome job keeping it quiet.

With a good rider and decent DA it will be ~125. A simple $20 -1 front sprocket is worth a lot on a 600 though, helps out their anemic low end and gets into the power quicker from a roll. If he gets that it will be harder to reel him in. A newer 07+ would do 128-130 with those mods, an 03 is less power and heavier.
Seat time is worth more then any mod on a 600...Power commander, tune, cat delete, GP pipe, and race filter all together was only worth a total of 7hp on my 600 over stock. On a bigger bike you'll get the same increase from just a full exhaust .

125 at best in real world air, with the owner riding it. It'll run harder than a 125 car on the roll, like any bike.

Nice run, what speed did you let off? You stopped his pull pretty quickly.

Now I'm really itching to get to the track and see what the old junkyard dog's got in my heavy boat!

On a dyno they make considerably less because of no ram air.
Yep, and it was still just as fast as the 07/08 models as well until Kawi tweaked the emissions valve, secondary throttle blades, and camshafts in 09.
A lot of people consider the 05/06 636 the best street oriented 600 from 05 all the way to 09. You can argue about the 07+ Ninja handling and braking better for road courses, the Gixxer 600 being more comfortable for commuting, or the CBR being lighter and smaller, but as an all around bike the 05/06 636 was hard to beat. Doesn't hurt that it was pretty much the quickest in a straight line because of all the extra TQ .
Pretty sure Kawi took the crown back from 09 to now :p. 07/08 was a slump, being the first year of new emissions regulations that only Kawi followed. That is why most 600's except for Kawi lost power going from 07-08...because Kawi had already lost the power the year before .

BTW Puck, forgot to tell you that I lifted at around 130 mph which is basically the top of my 4th gear. I'd really like to have a rematch with me brake boosting. I think it'd make a decently close run.
