Default E61 M5 vs My V.

Had a chance to run a new M5 last night! I was sitting at a light waiting to get on the highway, it was about one in the morning so not much traffic around. A car rolls up behind me, I couldn't really tell what it was? Light goes green, I take off pretty slow then decide to hold it in 2nd and get on it a bit. Well so does the car behind me I noticed. So I stay in it, by the time I am on the highway I am moving pretty well and I notice he is still back behind me about the same distance when we started, so I let off and start to slow down. Then all of the sudden I see the lights coming up on me pretty quick. I was doing about 100mph in 5th so I just leave it there and step on it not expecting what was about to pass me like I was standing still, a new M5 blows right by me. So he eventually slows down and I catch up. We line up at 70mph and he gives me the hit, no honking. I hit it and he immediately starts to pull, by 140 he had me by about 5 cars. Those things really move at higher speeds! Mind you I am a totally stock 2005 cts-v so imo I expected a bit more out of them. At lower speeds he couldn't get around me getting on the highway, it was a two lane on ramp. Still fun, all runs were also done in Mexico.

EDIT, it was the new body style sudan M5, 2013 I am not to sure if that is the e61? It looks like they called that one the F10? Not to sure?

It's an F10.

I think the stock record is 11.7@121

5 cars by 140 from 70 with the hit in a stock '05 LS6 V... Sounds about right.
Good death.

05 V, no peformance mods just lowered on H&R springs and muffler delete, and a drop in K&N. In other words stock.

In other words no faster than an e39 M5.

It defiantly had some exhaust work done, the thing was loud! Sounded pretty decent. That thing pulled like a freight train after 100 though, it was impressive!

They are actually quite loud from factory, aftermarket exhaust aren't cheap by any means. Full exhaust on my old e55 amg almost ran me 10k.

I ran into a new M5 last year, and once we got over 115mph he just pulled away. Stout cars in stock trim and pimp factor/baller status is an added bonus.

nice race I'd definitely run one too if I could with my V. I'd prefer to find one of the older ones as a more nose to nose match up. Thanks for sharing.

The M5's are pretty stout. A bunch of companies like AMS and Switzer are actually building turbo upgrades for them. Once a bunch of the turbo upgrades come on the streets they will easily be cars to watch out for.
