Default An F10 M5 Stock is faster than a C6 Z06 Bone Stock from a roll?

So this is causing lots and lots of discussion on the BMW boards. Being a Co GM and BMW family I thought it was appropriate to share this here

The F10 M5's have run 11.70'[email protected] Far less than what many have trapped in the Z06, but how does it do from a roll?

Most BMW guys say, well the E60 M5 actually has a higher top speed so aero should certainly affect the F10 M5 vs the Z06. It' a brick, and well over 4500lbs with the driver. How can you argue with trap times, weight and aero right?

However videos don't lie

Neither do the numbers.

Jamie Furman's stock Z06 pass.

Some random person's stock F10 M5 pass. This is not a record E.T and a few MPH of the highest recorded trap thus far in small community of people who have been kind enough to take this beast to the track for us

Notice a 26.6 back 1/8th MPH for the M5 and 26.4 for Jamie, in what is known as the worlds fastest.

23mph..

I saw more backing up more low-mid 2Xmph on the back half.

Think about it.. 40mph roll.. If one car traps 100+in the 1/8 and the other traps low-mid 90s... How long is it going to take for it to run it down EVEN IF it traps higher in the 1/4? A good while... In this case though, the lower mph car STILL traps considerably less int he 1/4. Which means it would take 150+mph to pull back on the other car.

Relatively same power.. Weighing what? 1K# more?

Not happening.

Find a good driver in the C6Z.

If they're close in a race, somethings up. Either bad fuel or altitude if decent driver. No way that race should be a toss up IMO.

I've raced 100mph trapping cars when I was trapping low 90s... It is ugly.

There's plenty more f10 m5 videos showing the exact same outcome. Matter of fact, when the f10 was released I was incredibly skeptical. Now I am a believer. Granted the c6 is what, 6 years old, it's a damn fast car and always will be a great competitor.

Also there's a reason the f10 has a better back half than the z06. It has an extra 1000 lbs to move up the front half. The back half is all power.

I'd have to know the C6z driver was good and the M5 stock before I believed it.

I'm going with lemons on this one. Just doesn't seem right. I need to see this happen in AMERICA, not Dubai or some **** before I actually believe it lol.

Maybe like said above there are some factors we are not being informed of. But where I live the average C6Z will trap 123-125. Looks like the average F10 is 119-120. That's still a good difference. Gearing, transmission etc comes into play obviously as well, but still.

I'd need a few more races with different cars to actually believe it.

No way. And not in that kind of walking pace against it, either.
Driver sucked ***, or something was up. One fluke race doesn't decide what would GENERALLY happen during a stock vs stock encounter.

And turbo or not... That is saying it has a stronger back half than a 427 cubic inch monster that is known to freight train things at 100+.

Stay ahead of a C6Z you better pull 2-3 lengths until 100 or stop before 120.

How about you watch any other f10 m5 vs c6 z06. You think there's only one video?

As if m5's have never had top end. There's not enough m5's running at the track for enough comparison, so why not take a verified stock one and compare the back half times to the fastest stock c6 z06 in the world.

I looked for a few minutes and couldn't find any solid videos.

I'm sure they do... But 427 CI. 32XX# M6 top end? Mid 12X traps VS sub 120mph traps show how hard they are pulling on the big end.

Even if they back half the same and the C6z out traps it 7mph in the 1/8 and 4mph in the 1/4.... It is coming back obviously.. But from a 40 roll would get jumped out on hard and have to reel it back in well into the triple digits. Not a dead nuts race and then a solid pull.

I mean seriously... Go back and look at that first race. 50-120mph it had enough room to make a lane change. LOL

And the race where the BMW is on the left side and pulled hard, he jumped a good amount. I saw 1-2 clean runs... Both times the Z jumped out. Not to mention he could drive better.
*Just went back and watched the video in detail.

While I don't believe half of the **** with the F10 M5's, M5's have always been top end cars. They actually have really good aero and gearing to go over 200mph easily. My buddy went 210mph in his E60 M5 with just an exhaust and a tune.

The Z06's advantage is power to weight and torque.

Off the line, where your et is made in drag racing, the f10 shows how fat it is. 4300 lbs and trying to move that off the line, I'd say its damn impressive. From a 40, I doubt a c6 would pull even a car length because of how well it places the m5 in its power band. M5 is making more power and torque Than the c6 at pretty much any given point as long as the m5 rpm is above 3000 from a roll to allow the fast spooling turbos a chance to make that peak torque.

Against the f10, neither are an advantage. The f10 makes 500 Rwtq at 1900 rpm and once rolling that pig *** f10 is definitely hauling ***. But like I said, I was a non believer myself until more and more videos piled up. Have you seen the f13 m6 vs gtr? Those videos had every BMW enthisiast in the world scratching their heads. I'll admit it doesn't make sense at first, until you see more and more videos and the same result.

I pulled the ***** out of my buddies M5 in my 5th gen and my 5th gen struggles with z06s.

In for this pile of **** thread where BMWs find sub par z drivers and run them from z dead spots then claim they're faster.

No one wins when you race to 200. 2 v8 rwd cars going from a roll...

You edged out a cammed c6 z06. Much faster than a stock c6 z06. Don't try and downplay it.

I don't see why this is so hard to believe. Cutout the bullshit hero passes where 47 parameters were adjusted and the car was run in -2000DA to get that 128 trap, and you have how many serious Z06 guys going for that record?

Z06s around here are generally 122-124mph cars, bone stock and driven. The M5 has a good deal more power, a lot more torque, M-DCT transmission which is better than that in a GTR. The old M5 had a higher top speed than a Z06 with the same power and 1000lbs more weight, so at some point the old M5 would start pulling on a Z06. Now add a better trans, 60hp and 150lbs of torque vs the old one.

Trap speeds don't mean a win from a roll. How many times have you seen GTRs beat a car that out-traps them?
