Default My First Kill in AGES!

This is my first kill in easily 2 years in fact its my first street run in that long too. So today I decided to take my SS "the mistress" to work, after work I have to head to a near by town. I'm driving down the highway and up ahead of me I see a C6 vette (wound up being a C6 LS3 Grand Sport) so I try to catch him. I wind up catching him at a traffic light he was one car ahead of me but in the same lane.

The light goes green and we both leave the light "easy" he guns it a little so I goose it to let him know I'm game. This was a no nonsense run line up, honk, and go. Ran from a 60 the first time and he took the hit and he pulled a fender on the hit then I slowly started to inch back on him. He was definitely surprised I kept up because of the look on his face.

I ask lets slow down he agrees so we get to 40 mph. Three honks and we are off. We got a good even start and its pretty even in 2nd gear I hit 3rd and slowly pull a few inches. I hit 4th (raped ape gear) and pull all the way out to 1/2 car. I let out at 115 ish and he comes hauling past me.

We both slow down give props and he says "you got one tough camaro" I said thanks and we went on our way. First kill in 2 years and it was good clean runs with a respectable car, cool guy, and a win. Couldn't be better

Short story my car in sig vs. LS3 grand sport axle back exhaust, CAI, tune loses by 1/2 car from a 40-115 roll. Thanks for reading.

That LS3 was no slouch for sure, but I should've been more clear and said that I DID NOT use the nitrous and my OEM clutch isn't happy with me at all it needs replaced and after each run I could smell the burnt clutch smell. My clutch needs replaced ASAP but it was TOTALLY worth it.

Lol, doesn't that make you feel bad that it only lost by half a car, with barely any mods?

No I don't feel bad at all...similiar power, similiar weight, and both m6s. I have a wore out OEM clutch that slips and burns everytime I shift so I don't feel bad at all. I mean its a 6.2L vs a 5.7 I had to even the playing field somehow. Lol

Yeah...a H/C car on a stock ls6 clutch is no good at all. I was in the same situation after my build and it was horrible, I couldn't go much past half throttle without the pedal sticking to the floor.

Yeah you pretty much got it right BrntWS6. The pedal wasn't sticking to the floor, but it was slow "popping up" and I had to granny shift so I didn't miss a gear...I'll take the win for sure though

I thought a mild h/c car would be about even with a stockish LS3. I still have the stock clutch with no issues. Good run/s.

Thanks Mike. I've kinda thought a mild H/C ls1 would have a slight advantage over a stockish LS3 too. I thought a 1/2 car ahead was about right considering i have a bad clutch. Does anybody with a H/C LS1 have experience with stockish LS3 vettes? Is a 1/2 car about right or is something wrong?

I've got a replacement sitting in my house. It's a Diamond Stage 2 complete kit and a tick adj. master once I get it installed and "broke in" I'll be good to go
