Default Buddy let me drive his 5.0 VS a Cammed GTO

Well, my good friend picked up a 2012 3:73 optioned M6 5.0 about a month ago. He was ever so kind as to let me run it at the strip Saturday night. It just so happened to be up against a 6.0 cammed gto... One that needs a little work driving....

Buddy was driving it during the day and managed a 13.2@108

This is my second pass, first pass I hit 5th instead of 3rd...

Car is 100% bone stock, on the stock 235 street tires.

According to drag time it was 3,440 DA and 92% relative density.

ME GTO

Needless to say im pretty impressed with it.

the gto must have something wrong. High 60' and low trap speed

Eitherway, good run on the 5.0, those cars are great. Similar times to a terminator.

It's called full-retard driver.

Nice to see a 5.0 with a driver who can drive it like it's supposed to be driven. Imagine if you had a little more practice

agreed fully. what's that saying go? FPFQ - Falling Prices, Falling Quality? I've seen enough of that around here. Hell, even my son is learning the slow/hard way how to drive a stick shift/ car with power. at least my son has the brains to not race anybody yet....

Ya, that car performed very well. I was rooting for my buddy Sunday to beat my time but heat prevented him from doing so. His car is going to hurt slot of feelings around here.

As far as the Gto goes, it was a baby cam car on street tires, and yes the driver definitely needed improvement. Idk what he did because I wasn't beside him since the staging line Lolz

Thanks bud, ya I'm happy with it being my first time ever in that car. Had a blast and I'm glad my buddy gave me the opertunity to run it. Now I have to let him make a pass in the Gto though :/

When you spin you lose mph. That makes sense to me.

Dat GTO time!!!! Was he slamming sandwiches between shifts?!

Impressive for the mustang considering its bone stock and a 2.0 60'. A sticky tire and its a solid mid 12 car.

Agreed, this car at sea level would be solidly in the mid 12's. it 60' great for the stock 235's IMO that look like they belong on a Prius.

As far as similar times to a terminator, well... I guess you guys got all the fast ones out there because every single one of them I have ever seen here is a turd. There was 4 termis here on cruise night racing. All were at least pullied running mid/high 13's. there was one that ran faster than this 5.0, and it was a almost full Bolton/pullied/ported eaton supercharger mystichrome car. Ran a best of 12.77@112. So IMO these 5.0 are alot more to be watchful for than a termi.

Also, if anyone was watching that 2012 5.0 vs 02 camaro thread that got locked. The 3rd gen owner said him and this 5.0 would be a good race znd that the 5.0 would NOT walk him. He ran a best of mid 14's ish Lolz

Wow nice driving... I was off 4mph and 4 tenths from 3200DA to 127DA when I ran my car. Looks like it has mid 12s in it easy at sea level.

Ya, an ls2 Gto around here is typically a bottom 13 second car stock. Ls1's are lower modish 13's. I ran a 13.5@105 In my Gto @ just shy of 4,000 DA.

My 12.7 nova @108 vs this 5.0 coming soon!

Not bad run. These cars can touch mid 12's with right driver and even low 12's with right conditions ie Negative DA and great driver. Its been done all all counts a few times now.

Seems about right... I went 13.4 @ 104 at 3200 and 13.1 @ 108 at near 0. 4000+DA is one hell of a hit to ET/MPH

Good job driving!

Two years ago, a local guy asked me to drive his 2011 for him. Just with my ET Streets and a 91 octane tune, I ran a couple of 12.3X's. Those cars are so smooth, that at the end of the 1/4 I felt like it was a 13 second pass at best. Imagine my surprise when I picked up the time slip and saw a 12.32.
