Default twin charged 350Z & S4, C5Z06 & E55AMG

Don't know much on 350z, he said safe tune turbo is 6lbs and supercharger is like 4 lbs. I don't know why you would build it like that but... his car, his money.
Buddy was upset that he lost with the AMG, found out he had a bad intercooler pump and supercharger bearing was also bad.

Nice races. That 350 looked liked it was losing its hood

No, it has a really long intake pipe on the blower with a BOV to reduce intake vacuum.

What is it with the AMGs that they always have a bad intercooler pump?! Sounds like an excuse by now. If its such a widespread problem, why is he racing without replacing?

Either way, good run. Not surprised at either outcome.

Its called compound boost, instant low end torque and great top end power. They compliment each other but can be nearly impossible to tune. The blower also helps spool the turbo faster. For the power he's at it works but you get to a point where the blower becomes a restriction and your better off with just the turbo.

He just got the car, He didn't know they were bad. Then we got on the amg forums and ya they fail all the time.

Bingo. These twin charged cars are damn near useless. This is why the fastest cars are either turbo or supercharged, not both. When the turbo spools it would just be fighting against the twin screws.

I've only heard 'random boost leak' and 'my intercooler piping popped off'. This is a new one. haha

Can't see the videos on my crap connection, but I do like AMG's. Sucks that it had issues.

To be honest, I've just always thought there would be situations where twincharging would literally sound cool, although that's about it. Like my car with the loud cog drive on the maggie. That plus an STS kit out back would make for an interesting sound I'm sure.

But that's about it. A cool sound. I'd rather build my engine.

Hellion makes a kit for the 03-04 cobra and gt500s called the hellraiser. On paper its really a great idea. 500ftlbs of torque at 2k rpm like regular cobras have and the top end pull of a turbo. You get the best of both setups cause no turbo is making tons of torque at 2k rpm's. It just becomes a real chore to tune cause you gotta find out how much boost the turbo is actually making and when and when and where the roots blower is making boost.
