Default My friends Thunderbird Turbo Coupe had a close run with and Evo at the strip

Thing gets the job done alright. I also ran for the first time at the strip and ate dog ****. I just kind of jumped on the track having never really launched from a dig and mustered a 9.4. Pretty sure I could do close to half a second faster if I could figure out how to launch. My best 60 was a 2.33 spinning.

I did beat a Mini Cooper S though lol (Not proud of that). Hope to go back soon, just nervous to go with the daily driver.

Wow! close run. BTW, have any idea about some of the mods on both cars.

Keep practicing on your launches though with your SS. The secret is in your 60'. I still can't drive for sh*t though so don't feel bad.

Yeah that wasn't his fastest run of the day, but it was one of the closer ones for the day. He said his shifts were a little slow but this was his first time at the strip for a while and the car just got running again. Also it has a new short throw in it so that probably takes some getting used to.

As far as mods go, I am not too sure on the Evo. He was complaining that he had the stock intercooler holding him back though. I would have to ask my friend if he talked to him. The thunderbird is pretty much all new stuff under the hood with some mickey thompsons on the back. It's done some work on the street and most people don't know what it is. Just texted my friend asking what he has done to it and will update (edit: AR 50 turbo on a rebuilt engine). I do know he is on 18-19 pounds nowadays though and he beat an LS1 goat when he was on 8.

edit: Evo was tuned on 28 psi with full exhaust and an intake. Other stuff was apparently done but we don't know what so that's that I guess.

I was going to say the same thing. The Evo was definitely the faster car.

It's the original motor too as well, rebuilt obviously. I think he paid 500 dollars for the car sitting on the side of the road.

Problem with the Evo is that was how fast he was running all day, the thunderbird had a slower run in this race. All I'm saying is that maybe it should be faster, but my friend seems to be the better driver.

just asked him, there's 215,000 miles on that motor. His dad has been a big part of it and he is the kind of guy who has to have **** done right or it's not worth doing.
