2002 Camaro 6 speed vs 2010 Camaro SS L99

Camaro has y pipe and intake, slicks and skinnies.

Camaro has intake/programmer/muffler delete.

Good race i figured the L99 would of ran you down though.

big hammer 08-12-2013 08:37 AM

L99's are 3v slow.

false.

nice run man! 35 rolls are a bad spot for the l99's (well at least in my experiences) but that guy should get a dyno tune and tune that transmission. a trans tune really wakes the car up (shift points, firmness, etc)

MACHXLR8 08-12-2013 11:28 AM

Love this! LS1 STILL kicking some ass. Great motor. I have to hand it to GM.

BTW, if the L99 Camaro were to be a manual transmission, would it have made a difference? Just curious if they run harder than the Auto

8ty8 LS1 08-12-2013 11:34 AM

the LS3 camaros (m6's) don't have the VVT or cylinder shut off which which results in them being rated higher from the factory (426hp to our 400). but i doubt it would have made any difference just looking at the way the ls1 was pulling

hypertech "tuner"? tell him to flash it back to stock immediately and get rid of that shit. :gruffy:

exactly.

Sick-SS 08-12-2013 12:07 PM

L99's are so embarrassing..

Not as embarrassing as L76 G8's. We are down 40 horsepower and up 200 lbs on the Camaro, plus we come with terrible rear end gearing.

true. I ran one when my 02 was basically stock and I beat it even worse than in this vid.

most l99's run mid 13's at best around 105 which is a good race for a 3v.

a little. stock l99's dyno hardly any more at the rear wheels than an ls1 car. except they weigh almost 4000 pounds.

4PointSlow 08-12-2013 02:35 PM

The L99 in this race did 13.0 @ 108 mph

i2disturbedSS 08-12-2013 03:15 PM

Dont down play the L99 -

8ty8 LS1 08-12-2013 03:23 PM

i know of a bunch of l99's in stock form that are in the 12's. my gf's car used to be one of them.

OneSlowV 08-12-2013 04:40 PM

Alot of people under estimate the L99. Fact is they are just as fast as the ls3 run around the same times.

odthetruth 08-12-2013 05:19 PM

Hypertech. I thought that was for guys in slow ass trucks who had intakes and ran 16s. Take that shit off the SS and get a real dyno tune.

This. I think a good tune helps them a lot. I ran my sisters bone stock L99 against my buds M5 3V stang that has a tune, X-pipe, 4.10s and DRs(13.2 is his PB). From a dig he was about 3 cars ahead by 110. She runs nothing but 87 in it though and it felt weak honestly.

OVA1 08-12-2013 06:20 PM

Nice run… The 5th Gens are really having a tough time taking down their older siblings. No doubt that this will change, once the paint fades a little, the ashtrays get dirty, the bolsters chafe and the second and third owners tear into them.
