I'm about to be running a set of LS7's so I'll chime in. It's not a design or supplier issue according to LSX head gurus. Due to emissions and having to keep as much oil out of the combustion chamber, GM seals the valves tight, not allowing enough oil to get to and cool the valves. Since the exhaust valve sees much more heat and is punished more eventually, through heat cycle metal fatigue, the inevitable happens.

So far on the web, this thread has the Ecoboost being the biggest P.O.S, that I have seen. Up until this thread, the only two problems I have heard from them have been the first two years of production, the IC was too big causing it to be inefficient and collecting moisture...causing the truck to not build boost and run rough. Ford has since corrected that. The only other problem that I have heard was driveshaft vibration from the two piece driveshafts, I have yet to hear a fix for that. I have several friends that have them and they all love them, with the exception of one friend, that the dealership can't seem to correct his drive shaft vibration problem.
