going to have to change things to make it decent, like the whole suspension, trans, clutch type, etc.
i havent gotten rid of it because im through buying new cars.

Who didn't know the new stang wasn't goin to heavier? A bigger car with more content is gonna be heavier........no matter how much furd **** you gargle. I was hoping they atleast held the line. It'll be lucky if the fifgen don't outrun it real good.

Looks like the tables will turn and the Fif Gen will gain a little bit in straight line performance due to the added weight of the Mustang. If I had to guess, the Mustang will jump ahead of the Fif Gen in sales, due to the new body style.

All of this remains to be seen. I'm not convinced that the 15 is bigger than the 14.

I couldn't even tell it was a 1LE and if not, that story is instantly explained.
C'mon... STEEDA already went public that it never weighed the Mustang and doesn't know the truth there. Even if they do know(and I bet they do), they're not about to spill those beans without Ford giving prior, probably written, approval. Were I to bet on it, my bet would be the new Mustang weighs within 100 lb of the old, lighter or heavier. I just don't see adding the massive additional weight of IRS, then trimming so much in other places, to come up with a large overall difference.
Ford has only said, publicly, that the new Mustang GT is faster than the BOSS 302 LS at Laguna Seca... It won't matter if it weighs 300,000 lb if it beats that car... it will be a run for the other cars in its class.
Heh... and yet it SMASHES the non 1LE Camaro SS, IRS and all.. I guess that Camaro is like one step below the handling of twin I beam, eh??? Dummy...
It's kinda hard to claim yourself not a Mustang guy when you own two... Just sayin' ... I mean, I'm not only a Mustang guy... perhaps you aren't either.

I just read another "guess" about it which claims the new 2015 GT fastback w/ auto weighs 3,638 lb... and gets just under 27mpg... Think I believe it? No, not yet. Why would I anyway? It looks like the 2014 specs to me...

i'm sure I read that the wheelbase of the '15 is virtually identical to the '14. a lot of the rumoured weight loss was because the '15 was supposed to be significantly smaller. ford also added IRS which is heavier and had to add more structural supports. expect weights to be similar to the current SS and more than the soon to be released 6th gen.

I certainly wouldn't bet on it being as heavy as the Camaro SS.

NONSENSE! The 2012 still loses, just like the 2010 and 2011 did, on road courses. That's much of why Chevy built the 1LE. Hence forth, magazines have apparently disregarded the non 1LE SS ... find an indepth performance article on one... I dare ya!
The 2015 has the same wheelbase as the 2014... it's track is also wider by 3" in the back and 1.5" up front, making the whole car wider. It gets larger tires, supposedly. That said, it's shorter in height and has less glass than the current model and it has aluminum in more places. I think it may well be heavier anyway, but really doubt it's going to be more than 100 lb in base V8 form.
