The boss only has 24 hp more than the gt. GT Has 420 & Boss has 444. Thats not a big diference. Also the boss weights about 30lbs more. I dont see what would make the boss a lot faster than the GT in stock form.

99pewterZ71 my Formula has the stock 3.42 gears. I dont know if the 5.0 i raced was auto or manual. We would stay together taking off but I would leave him behind as we speed up. I was under the impression that I had no way of beating a 5.0 but, if you look at the power to weight ratio and aerodynamics you see a bolt on ls1 isnt far behind. Bolt on 5.0 are most likely going to have the edge unless fbody has some good amount of weight reduction or internal engine mods.

Car has more get up and go on the top end. And having i think a 7500 rpm rev limiter vs 7k for the GT helps out to.

Most Boss cars are running low 12s around 114-117 mph stock vs most 5.0s trapping 110-112 stock. Most 5.0s are right there with a boss with just a tune though.

it's not necessarily just the hp, it's the extra 1000 rpm you get out of the boss that makes a big difference.

Nice kill OP. Looks like you beat him pretty damn easily if you started in 4th gear at 65 mph lol. You would have really raped him if you had started in 3rd instead. LS1 f bods and coyotes are a drivers race mod for mod if the LS1 is running healthy.
