Default '99 SS M6 with Headers VS 370z (no vid)

Just added some 1 7/8 headers to my mainly stock SS. Also has a lid, thats it. Was actually at the track as it was closing down when i asked him to race outside. I said "Hey you want to run real quick?" He says "This thing is stock" i said "So is this" and he replies "You have twice the displacement." I saw a couple of his runs and i saw him run a 13.4ish at 104mph (pretty sure it was an auto) so i figured it be a close race since i was running a 13.4 at 106ish with a 2.2 60 foot that night in florida heat.

So i leave the track and notice him behind me. Were cruising around 45 and he pulls up next to me and down shifts. So i drop it in 3rd and kind of roll on it, waiting for him to hit so itll be fair. We both hit and i slowly and progressively walk away from him all the way through 3rd and shut it down since my turn was coming up. I did not seem him gaining any ground if i were to shift into 4th since i had a car length and still pulling.

Anyways i thought i heard about these stock 370z putting a hurting on LS1 cars but it wasnt the case. My car still has the stock LS1 intake and has not been tuned so my car is very close to stock.

Meh I wouldn't say "Very" close to stock. LT's make a decent difference on F-Body's even without a tune.

370's actually aren't half bad. Big improvement over the 350's. There is no reason you should have been in 3rd at 45mph though. 2nd gear and you would have put a pretty good hurting on him.

I did 12.4 @ 113 and raced a full bolt on and tuned 7 speeed 370z, he did 342 whp on the dyno... which is more than I made... But when we raced 40-130 his front bumper was at my back and i was inching away.

He did 12.6 @ 112 mph.

Good run. The 370Zs and HR 350Zs are a fairly good race for an LS1-equipped car when both are stock, but the LS1 has the edge and the gap increases with mods.

I was in 3rd because i had literally just left the track and had just beat the living **** out of my car all night. I figured 3500 rpm would produce enough power. 2nd gear i would have demolished the poor guy. Secondly ive only had the car for a few months so im still a newby. I was pretty surprised as i was under the impression that he was going to probably beat me.

I said my car was "very close to stock" because i was running 13.4s and i know bone stock LS cars that are running faster than that. i was 2.2 on my 60's so im sure the car has 12s in it with a decent driver.

don't worry about what other cars are doing at other tracks. just worry about what they're doing at your track.

13.4 is right on for a lightly modded Camaro. This is reality.

Agreed. 3rd at 45mph... definitely the wrong gear. Its the wrong gear for me, so I'm damn sure its the wrong gear for you guys. LOL

330hp. 350 for the Nismo edition ones I think. I've had someone boast about a bolt on G37S running 14.3... only to be shut down by my friend with his bone-stock Magnum RT who ran the same time. My understanding, its the same engine.

Who goes out of their way to do that unless its a friendly race between friends? I make sure I attempt to downshift my *** into the redline before I race anyone.

LOL I will neither agree nor disagree with that statement.

That's not even a good time for a stock G37S, assuming we're talking about halfway-decent conditions.

Wrong lol keep trolling.

My heavy *** "lightly" modded WS6 when I still had it did 12.9 with Lid/Catback/DR's in shitty weather. That was when I was still learning to drive it too.

Good kill. The VQ35HR and VQ37VHR Z cars are pretty well matched vs stock LS1 cars and might just pull on you if the LS1 isn't in prime condition (high miles, etc). Of course they don't respond as well to bolt on mods and have nowhere near the NA potential of the LS1.

Most cars that would run high 12s on a 0' DA day at MIR are mid 13 second cars on the majority of FL track days, especially in summer. That's just how it goes for us down here unless you catch one of the few days during winter where it's cool enough for a good DA.

LOL Yeah we are talking that.

It was downright horrible. Dude was in total shock when my friend not only said it, but pulled it up on my youtube page.

I'm pretty sure the 3.7s are stronger than the 3.5s, because I've annihilated many 3.5s without much issue. I'd expect the 370z or G37s to be stronger than 14.3 though... but as Cobro wrote... This is real life.

DRs will help your ET a decent amount. Probably a 13.2 without them

Guys he had headers and a lid. 13.4 is right where you guys were at with similar mods. Stock LS1s going mid 13s. Two bolt ons aint changing the universe.
