5.bro showdown

Man...good close run!
I am surprised the M6 Stang did not pull away harder. He had some nice mods as compared to the Auto car. Just with the 3.73 gears alone, you would think he would have had a steady pull.
The Auto transmission has come a long way, I have to say.

good run. id like to know what tune the a6 is running. I think this shows just how well the auto performs with an aftermarket tune. iirc the ratios in the 6r80 make the 3.15s perform like 3.73's

Every single 5.0 in the local race scene that has 3.73s or switched to, was slower than it should be or got slower because of the gears. He went 12.1 at 114-116 with 3.31s and 12.2 at 115 with 3.73s.

Im starting to see lately that these cars arent liking the gear nearly as much as I originally thought. Ive seen lately where the 3.31 stick cars are out performing the 3.73 cars even with the same power plant

3.31 5.0 is like a t56 with 3.73s, 3.73s in a 5.0 is like 4.30s in a t56. The former is going to better at everything besides 1/8 mile digs imo.
Every single 3.31-3.55 stick car Ive ever seen has always outperformed a 3.73 car.

Or Bro on Bro action
I've been saying this for a long time about ls stuff......that most run to much gear. Erryone wants to throw a 4.10 in a 4gen for some reason......and I've been there too. Gear is most effective from a dead stop and hooking hard......not gonna happen for ya on the 10bolt so ya might as well run less gear and that mid range-top end acceleration. Once past 50-60 mph the gear loses it effectiveness. Of course there are limits to this that swing both ways. For drag racing a little more gear is usually better(but only if you can put it down)....roll a little less gear is better.
5gens for example are woefully under gear with their tire height and weight 4.30 would be a good gear for them. 5.bro's are geared very aggressively from the factory when you account for the trans gearing.
