Nice can to much Zinc be bad or useless? I used to use Royal Purple but just been using the cheap brand 15w-40 like i was told to use. May go back to synthetic 5w-30 with a lot of Zinc. Just gotta figure out who ill call for a good cam now

Motor oil companies reduced zinc due to dumb *** emission regulations, I don't think it's harmful unless you have an asinine amount in your oil. VR1 is actually called a "racing oil" so they can put whatever the hell they want in it. My cam and lifters look brand new after running only VR1 in my coupe, and those were hard miles since I beat the **** out of it constantly.

I would think that all cams are done with a CNC machine today so I cannot believe that Comp cams would be any different than the others. I am pretty sure Comp also has quality control to monitor their process as other companies do.
I have Comp cams and so far I have not had any issues.

As for oil, I am still partial to Royal Purple for everything. Motor oil, trans and rear diff. I like it because it is purple.

I run the walmart special oil and ZDDPlus. Buick has been running with 110lbs on the seat/stock cam/stock lifters for 130k miles... Tons of zinc. 10$ a bottle. If you play it right you can do it for 22-25$ total. I think the VR1 is much more expensive.

They really are.

I'm having a hard time deciding what to get after I sell this TA. Currently the options weigh as follows

1. C6 GS auto
2. CTS-V auto
3. 12+ 5.0 auto

Dislike how glass the 6l80 is past 550rwhp, even in built units. 6l90s tend to take a bit more abuse in the V. Ford's 6r80 takes the most abuse but hate how everyone and their mother out here has a 5.0 Coyote

Tbh ive been looking at 12+ 5.0s as well. I know ill probably get killed by yall or my family but can't deny what they have been doing. Only reason i wont get one is if the 2016 Camaro SS performs like we think it will. If so then ill wait til one is around 20 to 25k

When the motor is pulled, maybe you can look at the cam to see if that was the cause. By the way, are you getting the motor rebuilt, getting a new motor all together or getting different car?

Well im getting a lq4 short block. Gonna use everything i can from my ls1. Cam , heads, headers, intake, ecu harness and wiring etc...

I will buy a Callies forged 408 stroker kit if i need to get a bore on the 6.0, if not then I'll save up the money to buy it, ls3 top end kit, N2O, turbo, th400, suspension, and a rear end. Then ill be done.
