Default Whipple Cobra Vs. Neon


Here is a video from two years ago when the Neon was still on the modified mopar stage 3 turbo. My car at the time was at 28psi on e85 and running 18 degrees of timing. Cobra was a 2.9 Whipple Brenspeed 603whp car. After the race I was told it was running 17psi. Race was from 35-140. My car was in third gear on the roll. It took it a second to get into the meat of the power. Hence the Cobra jumping out. Guys originally pulled in, saw the cage in the car and immediately wanted to race for money. I didn't have the $100 bucks in my pocket that they originally wanted to race for so we just ran for fun. When they first pulled in the car was rather quiet so I let my friend drive the car figuring it was a bolt-on stock blower car. I was not even in the car when this race went down lol. They said it was a good race when we got back so I kind of kicked myself for not driving it. Enjoy

Yea it ran pretty good with that turbo. I heard Brenspeed around here is conservative with their tunes on Cobras. Cobra was very clean. Guy ended up selling it later that year for a older 5.0??

I never had it on the dyno with that turbo but going by how it ran compared to my other Black one I had it should of been high 400 with plenty of torque to go around. I am finishing my fuel system on my car so I can run this Precision 5858 out on 30psi. Hoping for 600whp. I will get it on the dyno maybe the same time I put the old LT1 on one in the Spring/Summer.

Here is a pic comparing the turbo size difference. Turbo I was running in the video is on the left. Turbo on the right is what is getting ran at about 30psi next year.

A few more videos with the PTE5858 on. Running pump gas and around 20psi earlier this year. Boost varied cause I was chasing a few boost leaks.

What was your fuel system with stage 3 turbo? Im running e85 and 20lbs and 30 degrees timing and making 392whp. Are you holding 28 or spiking ?

Stage 3 fuel canister with a walbro 255. Stage 3 canister has a 75psi FPR, not the stock 58. No return line, running 1400cc injectors. I had a big wheel stage 3 turbo. It was made by Forward Motion. Had a 47mm compressor wheel and a clipped stock stage 3 turbine wheel. I was holding 28. A stock stage 3 turbo will only hold around 25-26 I believe.
