It'll take quite a few mods to get a 15 mustang to keep up to a stock c5Z

Early C5 Z06 is a low-mid 12s car, new 5.0 is a mid-upper 12s car (on average, for both)...looks about right to me. Doug is still funny though.

No, it really is about 600-700 lbs. C5Z06 weigh about 3125ish, new 'Stangs 3705, easily hit 3800 with the right options. Oh wait you must have been thinking about 5th gens, sorry.

Good runs! Power to weight & aero advantage both in the Vettes favor. Expected outcome.

Not bad for a 2001. 2002-2004 would be even worse for the 'Stang

The '15 5.0 seems to be about the same speed as an LS3 Camaro. So everybody talking about how Ford is just catching up needs to look in the mirror

Lol....the 11-14 cars were on par with a ss camaro. I would say the old sedan based fifgen has a edge now.

Lol at the 11-14 cars being on par They raped the 5th gen the newer one seems to be a drivers race against Camaro. The new 5.0 will make even more power than the older model with just bolt ons.

The 5th gen was so on par with 11 - 14's, that I loosened/tightened all of 10 fasteners on my car, swapped wheels, and ranked #17 on their all time fastest bolt on list. Easy.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21013

Takes heads/cam for a 5th gen to run with a all out bolt on 5.0.

That IRS holds the new 15's back more than the minor weight increase. Can't get off the line efficiently without extensive modifications to that rear suspension. That kind of defeats the purpose of the nice comfy IRS ride... Ill take a SRA, thanks.

They make a little more power but the weight and the IRS negates all of that. 11-14 is still faster with the same mods and from digs especially.

5th gens are turds. Chebby is lucky Ford went backwards with the S550 in straight line performance. Gives them a fighting chance.

When the 6th gen comes out it will be just like the old lt1 vs 5.0 days.

Probably not. Lately Ford has been one step ahead of GM technology wise.

They just wait until Chevy releases the next item and then embarrasses them.

Case study #1: overhyped Camaro ZL1 and GT500.
