Default 01 LS1 T/A vs 2014 5.0

This was just a random encounter earlier today after I got a friendly rev from a 5.0 on the way by. Let me first start off by saying that I know this road looks like it's down a residential street, but it's a 4 lane highway (50mph), 2 lanes each way. The part we were on was about a 1/2 mile from the on ramp to the main interstate. Just wanted to clarify that before I started getting flamed.

I'm not sure what he had done to the car except he said it was a 2014 5.0, 6 speed with exhaust. So I don't know if it's tuned or anything, you know how the quick encounter of the mods on the fly go. He seemed like a cool guy though and this was the first 5.0 I've ran since I got my mods. As you can tell from the video I have some traction issues, but I found the problem so hopefully it's better now. Video kind of sucks, but I did the best I could. This is our second run, the first one was the same, but the video isn't as good. Both runs were 25-85ish

If you had traction issues on that run then he must have been spinning like mad...either that or he can't drive lol. Either way nice kill

lol he drives just fine, but my new torque arm adjustment bolts came loose and my pinion angle changed. I dead hooked on that road earlier since it's concrete, but I think while I was testing it they came loose. I put blue Loctite on them now. My pinion went from a 1.9 to a 3.2, traction wasn't horrible, but the squealing was from my drag radials. He has a 2011 5.0 that supposedly runs better that he's going to bring up Friday so hopefully I'll get video of that. I think my 2.73's actually help when it comes to low rolls because it shifts 1-2nd at 60 and 2nd-3rd at 105. So Most people have rolled through to 4th gear by then and if they screw up it's over lol

If you have OP's mods, there is no reason that should happen. Good kill OP.

Thanks guys!

I'm looking forward to running his other car, it should be pretty close from what he said so we'll do a dig and roll Friday if he makes it in. I didn't really know what to expect because it sounded pretty loud compared to mine and hadn't ran one yet, overall pretty happy though.

Yeah I put Loctite on my adj lca's and panhard rod, but wanted to make sure my pinion angle was set right before I did it. I should have just set it at 2* and locked it lol.

I was wanting some feedback on how much faster the new 5.0's are with say long tubes, exhaust, CAI, and tune are than I guess just one with exhaust? Will a cammed/stalled ls1 be able to hang with it or will it need heads too?

no bolt on 2011+ can hang with a bolt on ls1 let alone a cammed ls1.

seriously. you will beat every one you ever race.

It's that big of a difference? That's embarrassing.

Ok, I was under the impression that the bolt-on 5.0's were beating some of the cammed ls1 cars. I thought that I had read they were mid to low 12's bolt-ons and a tune. That's why I was curious what the guys that's ran them a few times had to say about them. Are the 2015's any different than the 11-14's?

Not trying to do a ford/Chevy thing, I just have a couple buddies that have them and we go on car cruises and such. Just wanted to know what to expect.

I saw a 2013 run 12.20s with drag radials last summer.
