Default 2000 SS vs 2012 5.0

The other night i met up with some guys and we finally wanted to see what my ss would do up against a 5.0 car m6, only "mod" was he has a pypes super flow catback or something, sounded great.

we ran from a 10 roll i told him to let out at 120 but we ran till 130

started out he pulled me 1 and a half cars instantly. i hit second gear and pulled back a half a car, we locked at him being 1 car ahead till 130 let out.

so there it is, i got killed by a 5.0 (beautiful maroon)

5.0's are no joke when driven well. Coyotes make good power

I'd say that you did a damn good job. What are your mods?
In your opinion, was the person in the Mustang a competent driver?

(SLP lid, flowmaster, gutted cats, but the no cats are slowing me down cause i am un tuned with no EGR or secondary air) i puke fuel smoke

The guy driving the mustang drove the ***** off that car, i was so freaking happy he didnt miss a shift because it was sketchy as ***** last night and we were not going to get another chance to run. That car held me off it was never going to let me by.

i wanted to get another run with my t-tops on but i am staying off the street racing for awhile. 10 people died on the roads in my town in the last week and it's really sad. The state highway patrol is rampant in my town for now. they are trying to be more proactive. only thing is 6 people have died running for the police in 2 weeks. its nuts. So i say for my last street (got killed) race i was very very happy to lose.

Jeez...what is with all these LS1 camaros giving the 5.0 Fits. Those cars are from the 90s for christ sake...

Nice run OP. Sounds like your car runs well.

Did you manually down shift or let the car do it itself?

i just leave it in drive till i am ready to hit it, i have messed up too many shifts trying to upshift, if i push it up to "2" it shifts where ever my RPM is. so i just leave it in D. i wanted a good run.

If you're doing a low roll, like a 10-20, have it in 1st.
Shift it up too 3rd (D), at WOT it will shift when it's set to shift. 2nd is a stand alone gear, so if you're WOT in fist and shift to 2nd at 4.5k, it will shift to 2nd then.

If you're in first, wait untill around 5-5.5k and put it in D. if you go from a dead stop, just keep it in D the whole time.

This is LS1tech. They'd never post the stories about them getting destroyed by someone who could actually drive.
Or they misidentified a V6 mustang.
