Default 2012 Hyundai Genesis vs 2007 Mustang GT

Got a new car (Hyundai) and buddy wanted to see how it compared against his mustang since he just got it tuned. He beat me in the Cadillac by 4 when he was stock, so figured what the hell.

What is the Hp rating on the 3.8 Genesis? Is there a big market for modifying these cars? If so, what do you have in mind (of course, after the warranty is up).

They're rated at 333hp. The biggest downfall is the traction control. You CANT disable it! So if you slightly spin, it kicks in and bogs down. They have headers, test pipes, and exhaust. The coupes have turbo upgrades I think. But haven't seen much on the sedans.

That is an impressive power rating. With some bolt-ons, that car would be pretty nasty. I have to watch out for these things.

BTW, is the computer locked or can they be tuned after some bolt-ons are installed?
Sorry for all the questions, just curious.

No problem. Not quite sure if it's locked or not. But they make a 4.6 version (379) and a 5.0 version (429) so watch out for them lol. And once opened up, I'm sure it'll be pretty nasty. Especially if I'm able to tune it. It's already surprised a RT Charger B-)

Hold up.... Did you just say Hyundai makes a 4.6l V8 and 5.0l V8 version of the Genesis? They must be brand new because just last year they only had the 2.0 Turbo & the 3.8L...

Damn I must have read over the "Genesis" part the first time cause I was thinking of a whole different car lol. The 3.8 Geneis scoots for sure though. And you can turn traction off on them, my Brother's girlfriend used to have one and I drove it a few times. The tires would light up easy as hell in the little bugger lol.

It says it's off. But when you break loose when launching it, it kicks in and cuts power. I actually did a burnout in it yesterday. Guess it only cuts powet when you arent holding the brake. Was actually surprised by it lol. How did you get it to turn off fully? I be held it for like 30 seconds and still nothing

Can't really remember, haven't drove that car in over a year now but you might have to press and hold it multiple times. However, I know Toyota makes it to where you can turn traction control off but if you start spinning too much or get extremely squirrelly, the TC will kick in even when it's suppose to be off... Might be the same for Hyundai.

It'll let me do a burnout. But if you wanted to drift it, it goes NOPE!

Damn really? Must be a new thing with the newer models because I could fish tail like crazy in the Genesis. Academy's parking lot when empty goes hard lol.

Bet it would've been a real tight race if the Mustang was bone stock?
