Default '01 SS vs Cobra

Driving home last night and seen a pretty blue early 2000's Mustang, so I drive up next to him and sit by him for a bit. Hear him drop into a lower gear so I drop into 3rd. No honks or anything, I let him get the hit, we were going about 30 at the time. He gets a quarter car by getting the jump, but drags my *** about 2 cars to 90 mph. Pull up to the next light and see the snake on the door, gave him the thumbs up and ask him if its stock, thank god he said no, it makes 460 to the wheels and has 4.11's. Really nice guy though, not all Mustang guys are bad. My Camaro is motor stock besides a lid, and I also have 4.11's in the rear. Ran out of money after replacing all the suspension in the car so no motor mods yet.

Dont know Cobras that well honestly, didnt even know it was one till after, where we raced was very poorly lit, got into town and the lights were better. All i remember was the chrome snake on the door and the rear bumper had the Cobra inserts like Camaro's do. Did have the whine so its def not a n/a car

At 460 rwhp it sounds exactly like most pullied 03 Cobras. If that's the case then there is no shame in losing there lol

I thought I kept up pretty well for a mostly stock car, don't get many races at all in Milwaukee. 3 only and i've had the car for a year now. Nice to kinda see where I measure up currently, need a bucket full of money for a cam and exhaust. 2 cars seem about right for a 30-90 roll race with what I have vs that?

2 cars is a fair amount from 30-90, but you could easily close that gap with a 100 shot

You should have been in 2nd gear from a 30 roll.

Cam only should put you right next to those guys.. Cobras have weird gearing and need to make more power to beat an FBody (m6 at least).

Seemed like he got about a quarter car on the jump and another half until I hit the power band in 3rd gear. If I had a decent shifter and could've started in 2nd gear and we went on a honk instead of him going first, I think he only would've had me by a touch over a car

This....you lost the race as soon as you put it in 3rd gear. Hell from a 30 I may have went for 1st. It would've been a dead heat or maybe even you getting the W if you get up on the wheel.

Yes, almost too much internet truth here. Nearly stock 4th gens with only a gear usually, normally have no trouble outrunning 460whp geared Cobras, especially with equal drivers.

Lmao!

I'd like to know exactly what model Cobra it was. Could have been a 99/01 with an Eaton swap or could have been a twin screw Terminator.

Lol @ 3rd gear at 30 mph. Doesn't surprise me one bit. I've seen full exhaust/lid/tune F-bodies run door to door with pulley/bolt on cobras. Those cars suck dick for the power they make. There's no getting around that.

lol so much win right here.

OP, sounds like a good run. Hard to really tell which way is up though if you don't know what the car was that you raced.
