That's pretty typical of all LS engines, when they hit peak torque, they can get away from you. This is exaggerated with 1) bigger cubes which the LS7 has 2) a decent sized cam 3) tires not great for hooking 4) roads not good for hooking. The old SBC's are torque monsters off idle, which IMO made them easier to contain, i.e. You were typically at lower speed when they wanted to burn up the tires. Every LS I've owned has wanted to get out from under you at higher revs.

Form the look of it, he could have let off and likely not crashed. I see smoke blow out from the passenger rear, then it's as if he did let off and get right back on it to only spin right away.
The rear didn't seem to pitch out hard or anything. He obviously spins, the just turn into the damn wall... Looks like a case of power + inexperienced driver.
