Raced a 2015 corvette Stingray this morning
I just got my truck running yesterday after being down for over a month after breaking the driveshaft and the tail housing on the T-56. I drove it to work today and my rough idle at a light caught the ear of guy driving a 2015 Corvette Stingray. He was in front of me at a light so when it turned green he took off. I decided to catch up to him and give my truck a break in run. We went from a 2nd gear roll at about 40mph up to about 100mph. When I got to the top of second his front bumper was at the back of my door, when I slammed it into third I jumped ahead and put about a truck length on him before I let off. He pulled up next to me, gave me a laughing head shake and a big thumbs up. That was a great feeling and reminded me of the reason why I put so much time and money into this beat up looking truck. What a great way to start off the day.

That's a good example about what hot ridding is all about in my opinnion. Nice sleeper! I always had the most fun driving around in something that ran a lot faster than it looked on the outside. My neon for example. You have that nothing to lose mentality when you are the expected underdog.

Thanks everyone, the truck has been a fun build. One of my favorite things is to sit at a light and look at the car guys looking around for some hopped up muscle car when they hear my rough idle. They usually just look right past my truck all confused and keep searching for where the sound is coming from.

Nice setup, am pretty damned surprised that you pulled on a car making more power and hundreds of pounds lighter though. ? There a mod you're not telling about? Your truck should weigh in the 3700lb range right? My '92 iron 305/5spd 1/2 ton stepside weighed 3920 on a calibrated auto scale, figure a T56 is about same weight as the big azz 5spd those came with stock, and the cast iron LM7 is probably 125lbs lighter with another 75lbs off for aftermarket exhaust. Can't imagine you are much /if any/ over 400rwhp with a 5.3L with only a cam/boltons/highrise intake/carb.?
EDIT: Read your whole thread and realized you did have a aluminum LS1 in there now after you blew up the LM7.
That's a swap I always wanted to do with my truck btw! And if I can get my father inlaw to sell it back to me I will do it.
