Default Bolt-on LS1 Camaro vs Bolt-off LS2 GTO

After months of the Camaro being down due to a hit and run I finally got it back and was able to get some runs in with a buddy. This is our third time to run the cars and each time something has changed yet we seem dead nuts even. I installed an LS6 intake but no tune yet. He's deleted his rear seat and unbolted the mufflers plus installed a newish A4 Trans. Really wish we had some more road, once I get into 4th it looks like i'll start to pull a bit more than I used to. First run i'm in 2nd (no idea about him) and the second run I start low in 3rd gear around 3500 or so. Gotta work on the 2-3 shift, auto's can be frustrating to run against.

Mods-

00 Camaro:
LS6 Intake
Lid
Potz TB
BBK Long Tubes & ORY
MGW
BMR springs, panhard and LCA's
3.73's
NT555R 315's out back
Knuckless leather glove on shifting hand

05 GTO
Muff delete
Rear seat delete
K&N Intake
NT555 all around

Good runs and pretty even. You're loosing in between shifts. What's your next mods? Tell that a4 owner to install a stall instead of another stock a4

You were definitely losing on your shifts.

On the one run you start pulling but then back off lol. The Camaro is clearly faster but those shifts are killing it

Hio said Good Run so that's all that matters

Seriously though, shifts are hurting me for sure but I didnt want to start raping the car that I just got back. Soon though. Next mod is a Frost Tune before saving up for a cam/springs and what not.

No idea why those goat owners do rear seat deletes. They're saving maybe 60lbs to make their car louder and less useful. Less weight saved if they add a barrier, then it's like 40lbs.

Nice close runs, with the edge going to the camaro. But I guess when you have the "knuckless racing glove" on there is nothing he could do lol. Good luck to you guys with future mods.

Dude really needs to get a OTRCAI, LT's, and tune before he goes pulling seats and removing exhaust. His cheap mods did seem to work though as I would have bet money you would have walked him with your mods.

Rear seat delete is pretty lame: the real weight is in the front seats as those bitches are HEAVY! then toss the factory hitch setup and steel skid pan and gas tank brace and steel front bumper brace and then get a Porsche/Audi diesel tune http://www.komonews.com/news/nationa...339481322.html

Good advice, I think he's done all of that accept for the front bumper brace and front seat delete. I think he's a member here so I'll make sure he see's your recommendations. Most of his money is being dumped into suspension and radiator maintenance for now. LT's are waiting to be installed for him but he needs to do more homeowork before giving them a shot.

Drop the skid plate, gas tank brace and rear v brace and rear seat delete. That will drop about 100lbs IIRC. Mine with not much gas was 3500. OTRCAI is also much better for IAT's which will keep it from pulling timing. Goat's can run very well, just need the right push.

Removing the front bumper brace is stupid. The purpose of that brace is to distribute the force of an impact that isn't a full frontal impact so that it uses both crumple zones. Removing it only saves you a couple of pounds and makes your car less safe in an impact.

You transform your impact absorbance abilities from those of the Renault to those of the Volvo
