The last fox 5.0L was actually rated at 205HP, then the SN95 was bumped back up to 215HP. The cobras were at 235hp and 240hp.
The 205HP number was a crock of **** though, most 5.0's dyno around 190HP. Basically they had the SN95 cars coming out with a crappier intake, so they underrated their current 5.0L to make it look better.
The only big weight advantage came from an LX coupe, the GT and hatch cars are very close in weight to the 305 cars.
Hands down the biggest problem will ALL of the TPI cars is the rear gearing and the damned 700R4. That's why the G92 was faster than the mustang.

Same. The M6 4th gens were better about it than the third gens, but still factory 3:73's would have been nice. My 89 IROC with the single cat has 2.77 rear end gears.

I know him. His name is nate. That'sa local vid.
As good or better than most other **** in its day. I out ran a whole pile of 30poos in my factory v8 Monza.
My k5 blazer did fine with a 305 and would get over 18mpg on the highway. A friend had a 30poo full size bronco. I coukd thrash that thing easily.
Lol......i will stand by saying the turd gens are the most taken apart car in the history of mankind.
It's a shame to. They ushered in a much superior chassis to the pony cars with incredible handling for the time.

My thoughts on the third gen in general, 2 mins for how I felt about the 5.0L.

86 for sure, but the 87 refresh added some weight to them. A 93 GT hatch has a curb weight of 3250, LX hatch is 3150. IIRC, the third gens are around 3100-3300lbs. Coupe cars are where the mustangs are really light.

I understand the feeling. 13.024 banging off the rev limiter on the 1-2 shift in the 97 ws6 was annoying. Still look back on it like damnit if I had a tune and good shift points it'd easily be 12's and an actual drag pack would have cut a few more tenths over 275/40/17 ws6 wheels up front and the 275/40/17 ET street radials out back on zr1 wheels

Makes sense with the pontiac cars, more effects and electronics. My weights are much closer on the IROC cars.

I like 305's.... and turtles. I rocked one in my first truck 1997 k1500 for a few years til I swapped in a 383. That lil 305 with vortec heads ran pretty good. My buddy had a F150 with a 302 same rcsb 4x4 setup as me and I'd walk him hard from any speed.
