Default 6gss vs 2014 fbo cammed 1le (no vid)

Completely random encounter while on a date to grab sushi lol.

So I'm cruising along at 72 (light traffic 8:30 pm) and spot a white 1le merging on the highway with exhaust (I heard). Funny thing is my date has absolutely zero clue about cars or my interest in racing (first time out). I say hmmm 1le with exhaust well lets see what he has. My date is dumbfounded as I drop 2 gears and do a ricer flyby (bait time) and drop back down to 50. The 1le took the bait! Yesss!!!

We line up and he honks it off (50 roll) off we go. We ran to 130ish before he let off with him about a full car ahead of me. Quite naturally I was not expecting this outcome (lol) so I motion for him to exit (wanted to see his mods). We cruise about 2 miles exit and chit chat what not. Fkn cool *** dude and he was straight up about his mods (fbo, cam, headers, exhaust, etc, no e85). This was about the best race (closest) I've ran thus far. Would have been **** had I caught it on vid but it was way too random. My car runs great for what it is but I peg it being neck and neck with a stock C5Z. Mods this weekend so now I should start getting more w's

It never ceases to amaze me what a huge difference there is between the 5th and 6th gen. I'm just curious does anyone know the price difference between the 5th and 6th gen? Like base to base, or option for option...that kind of thing?

It's like the difference of the coyote over the 3v 4.6. Very impressive indeed

Are you talking MSRP - because local dealers are still cutting prices tremendously to get the 2015 5Gs off their lots

Yes MSRP, say like a 15 vs 16 model. Not considering deals, markups, incentives, etc...

i think a 6th gen is about a 4k price hike over a 5th gen at least 1ss and 2ss.

WORTH IT IMO BUT STILL NOT inexpensive.

but ****,a FBO cammed 5th gen 1le just barely outrunning a stock 6th gen is both good and discouraging at the same time lol.

Total price aside a 4k difference is well worth it IMO. I imagine it would take more than 4 grand to make the 5th gen as fast and to handle as well

Good run!

I'd be pissed if I bought a fif gen, now that the sis gen is out. Kinda like 2010 GT VS 2011 GT. lol

I've seen in person a cammed/e85 1LE outrunning a bolt on/tune A8 C7 by a solid car. So I'd expect that same 1LE to put busses on a stock 6th gen. Anything can happen on the street, you never know when you're gona get that one surprising 5th gen lol.

So what are we looking at between the two....about a 25 hp and 250 lb difference, along with the A8 right? In a perfect scenario it sounds like the 5th gen would need at least 50 more hp to even have a fighting chance at all. Of course it doesn't always work like that though

im not defending a 5th gen but shouldnt a cammed 1le be trapping at least 120 in the 1/4?

Been 4 hours and they haven't stuck their heads in. They must be counting pennies to upgrade to the 6g from the 5g. Straight up 2010 3V depression on their end.

They SHOULD easily trap that much. Unfortunately most don't because performance results aren't much of a priority for 5th gen owners. They just do CAI/exhaust and then toss an off the shelf cam in and call it a day. The record holding cam only 5th gen trapped 131 and theres several strong running 5th gens trapping 122-125 cam only. A 5th gen just needs the right owner, and now that they will be getting cheaper I think we're going to start seeing more strong runners as more real gear heads get ahold of them.

ill admit i didnt buy my 5th gen to be the fastest car around lol. its my DD and i have nothing planned for it in the near future.

but, i do find it disturbing while it does seem to be setup/driver related these car tend to underachieve. ****,im far from a pro driver so im probably in that category.

still,im not buying its typical that a cammed 5th gen cant walk away from a stock 6th gen. it just doesnt add up.

ill end by saying i dont regret my purchase at all. i was well aware 6th gens were arriving and what they were capable of. my 1le is a pleasure to drive and gets stares and compliments constantly.

while for a few minutes i got stupid and almost traded it in on a 6th gen ill be keeping it for awhile.

That's an insult to the 5th gen. 3v's are absolute turds.

On paper, the gap between the 6G a8 and L99 A6 is probably more than the 2010 3v and 2011 Coyote gap

I will say this much. Altbough I'm not a 5g fan the 1le with a cam and proper driver is a much better performer and makes for a good compenent. With fbo and e85 on a 1le car it can become impressive and will hurt feelings. From what I see thus far in the streets it definitely takes a fbo cammed 1le or geared, stalled, cammed, fbo 5g to put up a fight with a m6 6g that is stock. As for the br0's I've yet to run one so I really cannot give proper input as of yet. I did get called out by one (friendly basis) but the timing was off plus he was bone stock with the exception of a **** ton of stickers and cai (stock tune auto).
I did run a 392 auto and we were neck and neck but it was heavily rumored he was on a 100 shot. I even have a short vid clip
